“Kindness is the one trait that can save us.” (Ferruci 1) This statement from, “The Power of Kindness” talks about how kindness can be as beneficial to the one giving as the one receiving it. We are living in a new age generation where people live selfishly rather than helping another in need. In the story A Very Old Man with enormous wings there is little to no kindness expressed throughout the story. it 's nothing too complex, it 's actually quite simple. Extending the act of happiness to others can be as simple as smiling at a stranger. Doing volunteer work on your free time can help uplift someone 's spirit. Reminding your loved ones that the you care for them and that they are loved. reassurance can make another feel good about a friendship or a relationship. Kindness can also fall under manner and proper edicate. It can give the person a sense of respect, and can make mostly any situation more comfortable and lessen the tension as well. Other real life examples can vary from from donating blood, to being a gentleman and giving your place in line or seat to a woman or an elder. The way the story describes the elder man clearly gives the reader an idea on his well being. "He was lying in the corner drying his wings in the sunlight among the fruit feels and breakfast leftovers that the early risers had thrown at him."(Marquez 2) That quote shows they didn 't bother feeding him properly any less care if it were enough to get him healthy and in good condition. "He had an unbearable smell of the outdoors, the back of his wings was strewn with parasites and his main feathers has been mistreated by terrestrial winds, and nothing about him measured up to the proud dignity of angels." (Marquez 2) He didn 't match up to any of the people 's expectations of an angel. Angel 's are thought to be holy, beautiful, and young and can perform miracles.
