An In-depth Analysis of Ponyboy and Sodapop's Characters

Ponyboy Curtis is a significant character. He’s a fourteen years old boy. He has long light brown hair and green eyes. I think that he’s smart because he reads a lot. His nose is always in a book. Despite Ponyboy’s gentle spirit and kind heart, he belongs to a tough gang in neighborhood called the Greasers.He follows what the other boys do because he wants to belong, but in his heart, he knows it’s wrong. Ponyboy is also the character who is retelling the story. Sodapop plays an important role in the story. He’s Ponyboy’s sixteen year old brother. Soda has dark eyes, soft and long caramel colored hair, and a handsome face. All the girls are madly in love with and visit him at his work, the gas station. He is incredibly wise because he can sense how a person feels by just looking at them. For example, if Ponyboy does something wrong, Soda can just look at him and he’ll tell soda the whole story. He’s always doing work, work, work! Sodapop explains that he just grew up too fast, but Ponyboy doesn’t believe him. Darry’s always hollering at Pony about useless things, like if he doesn’t have an A+ in every class or if he’s a bad football player. He’s constantly micromanaging him. Also, he somehow shows no emotion except for anger. His eyes are icy, cold, and mean. They match the rest of him. Darrel is six foot two and twenty years old. He has broad shoulders and is extremely muscular. He has chocolate brown hair with long bangs in the front and shorter in the back, like their dad’s. Several years ago Darry, Sodapop and Ponyboy’s parents died in a car wreck. They left Darry in charge, this just adds to all the stress he’s dealing with. I dislike Darry.
