Did you know that living with foster parents doesn’t give you the same love than your real family. The is why Ponyboy should stay with Darry instead of the system. He would be better off with Darry. Darry has shown that he is a responsible guardian because he has two jobs so that Ponyboy could stay in school. “Darry worked on two jobs at once, made good at both of them, and his outstanding record at school…” This proves that Darry is an outstanding guardian. The foster parents don’t give them the same love as their family. On the other side darry cares about him more than other foster parents. Darry is a good guardian and watches out for Ponyboy. Ponyboy has good grades and likes to be on the track team, this is good for his health.
Ponyboy would be better off with Darry because he is a good guardian and cares about what could happen to Ponyboy. “suddenly I realized, horrified, that Darry was crying. He didn’t make a noise but tears were running down his cheeks.I hadn’t seen him cry in years, not even when mom and dad had been killed (p.87). Ponyboy has good grades and he likes to be on the track team and that keeps him in good health. In the end Ponyboy realizes that Darry cared about him as much as Sodapop. In chapter twelve Ponyboy’s english teacher told him that since he is failing english, he has to do an extra credit essay to bring up his grade. Ponyboy and darry also get into a fight causing Soda to leave. Then the trial confirmed that Ponyboy and Soda can stay with Darry. Then Ponyboy wrote his paper on his experience, basically the whole story. The best literary element for this chapter is the plot. With Dally being a hoodlum and Johnny being very frail, how could the possibly even like each other? In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, two characters, Johnny and Dally come together despite various similarities and differences.
After the ceremony was over, Ponyboy ran over to where his brothers and friends waited. Surprisingly, the first person he ran to and hugged was Darry.
The importance of having a family and friends that support you is indispensable. Ponyboy’s parents died in a car accident leaving him in custody of his brothers Sodapop and Darry. Ponyboy and Darry have a strange relationship. Darry is very protective and strict with Ponyboy because he feels that he is responsible over Ponyboy. Instead, Sodapop is more closer to Ponyboy in different ways.
“Since Mom and Dad were killed in an auto wreck, the three of us get to stay together only as long as we behave (2).” This explains why Ponyboy, Dally and Sodapop did not have parents. After the church fire Ponyboy comes to the realization of many things. Two-Bit and Ponyboy are eating at a restaurant known as Tasty Freeze when Randy asks to speak with him. Ponyboy tells Randy, ¨Maybe you would have done the same thing, maybe a friend of yours wouldn’t have. It’s the individual¨(115). He finds out that you cannot define someone based on of they are part of the Socs or the greasers. Furthermore, he finds out that every one is a individual and that means that just because he is a part of a certain group it does not mean that they are all going to react or perceive a situation in the same exact way. In addition, he say this to Randy because when there was a fire in the church Dally was not willing to risk his life to save someone else's when Johnny and Ponyboy were more than willing to help the kids. This shows event shows how all Greasers and Socs are not the same. In the beginning of the novel Ponyboy believed Darry disliked him and thought he was a nuisance. However, later on at the hospital Ponyboy tells Darry, “I’m sorry” (98). Ponyboy’s words expose how he feels bad for thinking Darry disliked him all along when in truth he loved him more than words could describe. He realizes that Darry fears losing another family member that is why he is so overprotective of Ponyboy. Hence, proving Ponyboy is clearly a dynamic character.
Foster care is an agency that takes in more than 250,000 children EVERY year. With this many children entering the system every year; the amount of problems on finding the right caregiver for the child increases tremendously. When these problems are created there are many effects that can happen to the child that can last short-term and unfortunately long-term. Fortunately, there are multiple solutions for these problems that everyone can do so that everyone's position is improved. Foster care agencies can create negative situations due to the selection of the caregiver and the plethora, deluge, profusion, surplus, vast, prodigious, immense of problems that are created; however, there are several pathways that either party can take to improve the unpleasant situation and its effects.
...n they are in the hospital when Johnny, Ponyboy and Dally return from Windrixville and Johnny is dying. Ponyboy realizes that Darry does actually care about him; he is just strict because he wants him to be better. At that point Ponyboy thinks that everything is going to be all right because he understands Darry now, but it just goes back to normal with all of the arguing. Finally Sodapop steps in after Dally dies and everyone is sad and feeling helpless. He tells Darry and Ponyboy to promise to never argue again because he doesn’t like it, and they agree. All of these conflicts in the novel “The Outsiders” started with Darry hitting Ponyboy in the face. This lead to many different relationship problems between the Curtis brothers and three deaths that made the relationship very strong.
Not only is Ponyboy just going through the motions, he has stopped caring about grades. This is almost the opposite of having hope, because as soon as you give up thinking it will get better, it never will, and that is giving up hope. “What’s the sweat about my school work?”(173) Darry could have gone to college, he could have been someone, but he didn’t go so he could support his family, and when Ponyboy has stopped caring about grades his brothers efforts are in vain. Ponyboy is smart, he used to get good grades, he could make it out of that town, but to do that he would have to go to
To many outsiders, the foster care system may appear to be a safe haven for those children that are abused or abandoned by their birth family. This is correct, but the system with which it is based, has many flaws. A background check is mandatory for all foster parents, but a test to see if a child 's temperament matches that caregiver 's parenting style, is not. Now, this is seen as a minor issue, but there is not enough evidence to support this. Plus, there are many other, much worse reasons, why the system is not perfect. Altogether, the foster care system and a multitude of its rules are flawed and may actually be negatively affecting foster children.
Pony and Johnny have difficult home lives, and don’t sense strong connections with people in their own family. Ponyboy has a difficult time with his home life. His oldest brother, Darry has been turned tough after their parents died in a car crash. Darry
Ponyboy does not want to be taken away from his family, but he might question the love his older brother has for him because, “He's as hard as a rock and about as human...he thinks I'm a pain in the neck. He likes Soda--everybody likes Soda--but he can't stand me (42).” This shows that Ponyboy thinks his eldest brother does not care about him. Ponyboy is bothered by this, but he knows that he could not stand being apart from his only family, given that he already lost both his mom and dad.
