A piece of writing is often just like a fingerprint of the author who wrote it. The are distinguishable traits that appear in a majority of pieces the author of the paper composes, and is unboundedly recognizable to any reader. In Composition for College this semester, I have definitely left many clear figure prints on a majority of the paper I have written. However there are some features of my writing this year that are undesirable to me, and any reader who may skim over my papers. In order to change these negative aspects of my writing, I must set a series of goals for myself too make my writing better than it was before, including trouble with using commas, and a series of punctuation errors. As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. As a collegiate writer, my strength lies in my clear understanding of the fundamentals of writing, while my primary weakness is proofreading my own work.
Over the course of five weeks we’ve had to write three essays (four if you include this one). With every essay I’ve written I have improved my writing process. Having the chance to practice my writing skills in English 102 has made me a better all-around writer. From the beginning of this course, I knew I had a few major issues that I needed to overcome to improve my writing. The biggest being my issues with punctuation, specifically comma splices. Comma splices are something that I just can’t seem to wrap my head around. Although I have gotten better at recognizing comma splices they still seem to sneak in to my writing.
The journey through language and literature has always been an intriguing one for me. It is for this reason that I chose English as my major. It seems that every teacher or professor that I have had, has always been able to pinpoint one specific element in my writing that I need to work on. This has not been a negative thing by any stretch, because with each passing semester there is an element of my literature that will be perfected for the next. This is the wonder that is English, and the reason for my passion in this subject area.
Throughout the semester i only learned few new things but i did improve and solidify my skill of writing. Before my first year of college my skills have always undermined by other high school english teachers and with that came disappointing grades. I am writing this paper as a reflection of the semester and the progress i have made as a writer. I now understand many things that my high school teachers have done a poor job demonstrating and i am grateful that i decided to take my own route in my education instead of their syllabus. I entered the semester with anxiety that i would perform as i did before but i clearly outdid my own expectations by receiving top grades on my essays.
Most students learn effectively through both positive feedback and a boost in academic confidence, or through negative feedback and the chance to fix and improve your literacy mistakes. In my experiences, I have grown into the writer I am today due to both positive and negative feedback through the education system. Positive ways have made my writing skills feel validated in their worth, as well as created a desire to continue in striving for the best. Negative ways have helped my ideas and structure grow stronger, and also encouraged me to do better. I can honestly say I am a horrible reader and a writer at the same time. My goal for this essay was to reflect on what I learned. From analyzing my writing, I can assure that I have problems understanding the question. In order for someone to learn how to be better at something it is by practicing. Punctuation errors in writing have hunted me ever since I can remember. They are my worst enemies when it comes to writing sentences in an essay. From my view punctuation errors are not only easy to make, but they are very hard to find in my essay’s after my sentences have been wrote. I can perform the punctuation errors and not even know I even made it. It drives me crazy, because I be having so many punctuation errors in my sentences when my English professor grades my essay’s.

growing up I 've never been a very proficient writer . but my mom never accepted mediocre work especially when she saw greatness in all of my brothers. Being a little kid I always thought my mom had a negative impact on my writing process, but now that I 'm older I still see she was actually left a very positive impact on my writing process. No matter what my mother always made sure I always had three drafts. In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.

Notoriously late for class due to her love of smoking cigarettes in the teacher’s lounge (in those days smoking was allowed in school buildings), Ms. B’s entrance into the class on this particular day was no exception. With a flurry of authority, arrogance, and impatience, she appeared before me-the subservient and humble student. Her disdain for my writing was obvious in her written comments on the returned assignment. But it was the spoken word about my writing that intimidated and humiliated me, even to this very day when I allow myself to think back on the incident.
From the first time I began writing papers, I had never been to fond them. From the stupid topics that we had to write about to the impulsive “pop quiz” essays in school. Going into English 101 in college I honestly expected it to be just like high school. Boy was I wrong. I had to take this course because it was required so I could graduate, but I am glad that it was a requirement. I feel like I have learned so much from these past couple of months that will help me as a writer in the future. I don’t plan on writing much in my future as I plan to be a cosmetologist; however, if I were to have to write a paper I would know how to do so.
