A A picture speaks a thousand words. In the photo,“The Navy Needs You” the message impacted deeper than just the words, I believe it was the most effective because of the message it conveys. Artist use tools to express ideas through colors, images, and words. The wording used in posters for influential purposes is essential. “The Navy Needs You” uses the words “Don't read American history-make it!” With those words it asks readers to come forward and make history by joining the navy and fighting for our country. It also says don't just read it, it's asking our countrymen to not sit and read and discuss the war, but to be the ones being read about. The words used are very import, but so are other aspects of the poster. Colors are used to bring life to objects, and in the poster it brings the feeling of freedom. The …show more content…
This poster is full of references to the Lusitania, from the smoke in the background to the man reading a newspaper mostly likely about the sinking, but there is a ray of light as the angel of Columbia looking over them as all this is happening. The images represented there are used to make men want to join the navy, you even see a naval officer speaking to the man in black. This is probably the most influential poster because of the combination of elements. Some people may believe “If I Fail He Dies” is the most influential for the fact of appealing to women. Others may believe “Will You Fight Now” is the most persuading for depicting what America would be like if no one was willing to fight. And a select group could believe “Food Will Win The War” is most influential for bringing forth a spirit of giving, but none of these represent the American spirit that “The Navy Needs You” represents. I believe the patriotism “ The Navy Needs You” conveys is incontestable and most effective in bringing support to the
This campaign mission must convey the importance of the programs the WWP provides and stress the need for the financial support of the public. WWP over the years has demonstrated that it is successful at raising funds for its organization and programs with an extensive list of corporate sponsors (Current Corporate Sponsors, n.d.). An area that the WWP has not developed is a marketing campaign that targets Americans age 25-40 years old who are the exact same age as veterans the WWP is dedicated to serving. Focusing on this age group similarity in our campaign would allow our target audience to identify with the WWP alumni while at the same time increasing awareness about the WWP. While the monetary donations may not add up to the big donations from corporations, brining public awareness to the organization will allow the organization to expand nationally and have locations in all 50
Having such an image before our eyes, often we fail to recognize the message it is trying to display from a certain point of view. Through Clark’s statement, it is evident that a photograph holds a graphic message, which mirrors the representation of our way of thinking with the world sights, which therefore engages other
One thing that stands out is the author’s approach to the betterment of the community. Aside from trying to recruit individuals into the service, I believe he might also acknowledge Grossman for what he’s doing to the homeless citizens of Los Angeles. We can assume the author appreciates creating a better and easier life for people. Most importantly, however, it is agreeable to say that the article implies that the military is what the author remarkably values. I feel this way because in all corners of the article, it is touched upon. For example, the author prints, “The qualities you acquire while in the military are qualities that stay with you forever,” and “Today’s Military: See it for what it really is.” Additionally, he informs us that Grossman has been featured in magazines highlighting those who have served in the U.S. Military. He’s complimented the military multiple times in his work. I believe he also wishes to expose some admirable things about the military and shine light to it, in hopes of gaining followers and supporters for the
Patrick Henry utilizes logos, repetition and allusions to convince his audience that they should engage in war in his “Speech in the Virginia Convention”.
The poster I have chosen contains a young woman holding a gun with a red bandage covering her eyes and mouth and behind her, on the wall is an American Flag painted on with dripping textures. On the American Flag there is a quote which reads, "We kill people who kill people because killing
Here we have a picture of a “Christy Girl” dressed in a United States Navy uniform with a sailors hat on her head. She exemplifies grace and charm as she says “Gee! I wish I were A MAN I’d Join the NAVY!” In this cartoon she is saying that by joining the Navy you will be considered a man. This war poster is aimed at young boys. The government was trying to get anyone they could for the war effort and around this time younger and younger men were enlisting in the armed forces. Because the “Christy Girl” was so highly looked upon for her strong American values, having her grace the front of a war poster would perhaps encourage people who had not previously thought about enlisting to then do so. A female figure is wearing a traditionally male outfit. At this time Navy sailors were thought of as being men. Having a Christy Girl wear a Navy Uniform was a good way to get the young men’s attentions. Patriotism is not really being appealed to in this poster. Surprisingly enough this poster shows no flag or any other symbol conventionally thought of as being “patriotic.” Most war posters are customarily thought of as being similar to the “Uncle Sam Wants You!” poster with red, white and blue splashed all over the paper.
Murphy’s law states that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. As someone who bears the name I can attest the truth in that statement. I have an extremely blessed life and do not endure the suffering that many people do on a daily basis. However, I have bizarre connections to small misfortunes and circumstances that follow me back as far as I can remember. Any acquaintance of mine will attest that things in my life never go as planned and anything that can happen will. Yet through a collection of misfortune, one can still find solace and benefit through their tribulation and see that negative experience could actually be positive.

The Polish poster movement is pretty downplayed in art and graphic design history, but this is not a reflection on its importance. Characterized by stylistic variation and the integration of image and text, poster art played a major role in Polish graphic design, and an even greater role to graphic design and illustration as a whole. Especially in contemporary design, we have seen a sort of reemergence with the aesthetic qualities of Polish poster art.
When initially analyzing the Tangled advertisement, I noticed that colors are a dominating feature in this poster: bold colors featured in the setting, chameleon, and on the female present, more neutral/natural colors on the male and the horse. For the environment, there are multiple shades of bold greens surrounding the edges of the poster and separating
There are seven elements that designers use to create an effective poster design. The first is to use some of the movie’s main characters or major plot...
Superb pathos are used in this case. In this poster, Uncle Sam is very effective in displaying emotions in this poster. Uncle Sam attracts great emotions due to the fact that he is pointing at someone and saying “I want you”. When he uses the word you, he is able to establish emotions to any person who sees this post. Additionally, the use the flag is very effective since it ensures that it specifies on the audience being addressed. In this case, the audience is anyone in the United States of America. The poster was effective since it affected individuals. In the poster there is a person who is called Uncle Sam looking like an American flag, and ordering you to join the army. This can be seen through his facial expression and the fact that he is pointing. The colors are also effective since in the United States, they mean pride and
But what makes it so special is the simplicity of the image. The lines and shapes used within this piece of art represents and shapes the overall photo, President Barack Obama. If you take a quick glance at this piece of art the first colors that immediately comes to mind are Red, White and Blue. But if you look closely you’ll notice the colors are red, beige, blue and black. I must say I think the style of the image would be abstract and representational because this figure represents Obama, America, and the support of the Presidents campaign. The principles of the design include the unity of the colors coming together and balancing out. Another thing I noticed about the colors that the analysis did not talk about in detail was the dark red on one half of the poster and the soft blue on the other. These color choices seem to show that Obama can be very stern and commanding if he needs to be, but is also very sincere and caring towards others (Badia, Jessica. "“HOPE” Poster Analysis." Even though the image is simple and consists of a few words, its message is still motivational and inspiring. The poster’s original purpose was to motivate the people of Britain during a time of need but today it motivates people through their own times of need. From its few details and color choice, a lot can be taken away from this image. It has a lasting impact that has lasted from 1939 to present day. The image has created so many other posters because of how people viewed it. They either embraced the original or expanded on the original idea to make it their own. The background of this image gives a great amount of insight on how it came to be and that its purpose was for the greater good. It’s a great feeling for citizens of a country to know that their government cares about how their people feel.
"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay, where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away that I wanted to write about the painting. I don’t know why, but I felt that the painting was describing the way I felt at that moment.
