Paragraph one: America is one of the most developed country of this world; this country consist of a variety of people and culture that makes this nation so diverse. In the book Ethnicities, Eva Hoffman said “in a splintered society, what does one assimilate to?... I want to figure out, more urgently than before, where I belong in this America that’s made up of so many subAmericans (Rambaut).” Like America the trail mix has different parts to it; the M&M’s, nut, raisins represent the different people. And for society to understand the base of American people must go back to the beginning. It all started in 1492 when Christopher Columbus accidentally discovered The Americas as he was traveling to India. However that discovery wasn’t the true reason why this country is here to day. It was the creation of Jamestown in 1607, the first colony and the start of many more (First Arrivals). The nuts are the Europeans that came to this country; the almonds, cashew, and peanuts shows the subgroups in the european ethnicities. As time pass more and more people came from all over that world to grasp the opportunity America offered. One of the biggest wave of immigrants coming to this country was in the mid 19th century.
