Why did the Mohawks wear the clothes that they did?
The Mohawk tribe had different clothing. During the summertimes, children that were less than 12 years old would go around with no clothes. Boys that were older the 12 would wear loincloth just like the men. Woman and girls above the age of 12 would wear nothing above the waist. They would also wear a skirt that would go till their knees. During summer the weather was warm so everyone would not wear any shoes.
Otherwise men often wore breechcloths and leggings, and because of their culture men didn't usually wear anything on top. During the other season women would wear the skirts with leggings, but the leggings that they wore were shorter than the ones that the men wore. The Mohawk women would also wear a poncho-like tunic that was called an overdress. Sometimes they would wear pantalets, over dresses of calico, and blankets like shawls. They would also carry bedded pocketbooks. The men would also wear moccasins on their feet. The clothes that they would be wearing would be made out of deerskin and it would take a really long time to be made.That is why whenever they didn’t really need it, they wouldn’t use it.
The Mohawk people would usually wear moccasins if they would go away from their village. The males in the tribe would also wear their leggings. They would wear the leggings because it was a great protection from thorns that they could get, or poison ivy. The mens leggings were tied by cords and for the women, their leggings would go to the knee and tied above. The reason that their leggings were shorter was because they had long skirts that would cover and protect, their knees and higher.

...used were the rattles. The rattles were made out of a variety of different objects. There were different ways to make these rattles. Sometimes they would be made from turtle shells, which would be filled with stones, and it would have the deers tibia as a handle to hold on to.
At other times the rattle would be made by having to put seeds into a curved into a circle, rawhide.That rawhide would later on be attached to a wooden handle. The rattles were always different, and they would always be decorated really nicely. Sometimes they would have them really colorful, and then they would attach them to bones.
The Mohawk tribe really liked their music. They would always play it during all of their celebrations. Their music always had a nice rhythm, and it would always be different and playful. They would play it very often and their whole tribe really enjoyed it.
