The Magnolia Story Chapter Summaries

Memories That Last a Lifetime Many people are waiting anxiously for Tuesday, November 28, 2017. On this date the fifth season of Fixer Upper is suppose to be released. Chip and Joanna Gaines, the stars of this show, wrote a autobiography called The Magnolia Story, which tells the story of their life and the show. During this story it starts off telling us about how they met; throughout the story it shows how their relationship grew. Chip and Joanna Gaines were also able to share life lessons with the reader throughout the book. I recommend the book for other people for many reasons such as the life lessons taught throughout the novel. One reason that I recommend the book is because it tells the story from both, Joanna and Chip, perspectives.

Chip then writes, “I knew Jo wasn’t about to have Cedric come sleep on our couch with our four babies asleep inside. . . . At one o’clock in the morning, we went to the store and I bought a few blankets and towels, and I took him to a flip house we were about to put on the market. The next day when I went back to check on him, Cedric was still there.” (Gaines 121). Joanna then writes, “We needed to get that house into final shape for an open house, so Chip offered to put Cedric up in a hotel for a few days in exchange for his doing some work for us. Cedric said yes. . . . He started attending a Bible study after that and received services from Mercy House, a halfway house of sorts that helps people with problems get back on their feet. Come to find out, Cedric had just gotten out of jail, and here he was turning his life around thanks in part to our tiny bit of help. It was awesome to witness.” (Gaines 122). In this quote it shows that Chip and Joanna were help a man that was trying to restart his life and he did not take his second chance for granite. He was able to accomplish something with his life since he had been given a second chance which is why the life lesson of giving someone a second chance is an important lesson to
