The night before the free-for-all, Orion had a tough time sleeping. He tossed and turned in every possible position until he finally decided to get out of bed and go for a walk. He stepped lightly to avoid waking his companions. He went down the stairs and out the door, into the cold outdoors. Many people were still awake for the festival. Couples, children, and travelers alike wandered the streets with happy expressions. The townsfolk danced in the square while a dwarvish woman and her band of musicians played joyful music. A young woman invited Orion to join them, but he politely declined. He watched his feet move in sequence, listening to his own footsteps. The kicearin juice seller stood nearby, holding a crate of glass bottles. She and Orion ended up sitting together, sharing a bottle of mint water.
