The movie begins with small boys living in a small town called Kabul. The small boys named Amir and Hassan are best friends, Hassans father is Amirs fathers’ servant. Besides from flying kites to get ready for a kite competition they enjoy being together. Amir would read or tell stories as Hassan who could not read or write would enjoy listening them. But just like all friendships they are always put to the test to see how much stress and time apart they can handle until breaking. The boys are torn apart when Amir becomes a witness to Hassans rape no he does nothing to help. Then to get rid of his guilt for not helping his friend in his time of need Amir frames his friend Hassan for stealing a watch to get rid of him. As Hassan leaves Amirs house with his father luck would have it that Amir and his father must also leave their home because of the war approaching their home. The movie takes place in a small town named Kabul and an afghan family. The main character Amir is played by Khalid Abdalla as an adult and by Zekeria Ebrahimi as a child. Amirs father also know as Baba was played by Homayoun who captured the role of beign a father in a hard time excellent. Amirs best friend Hassan was played be Ahmad Khan Mahmidzada who was able to capture the role of being Amirs less intelligent friend unable to read or write, but showed courage. Amirs future to be wife Soraya was played by Atossa Leoni. As for Hassans father Ali played by Nabi Tanha. They all capture their roles perfectly able to captivate the audience in the tragic story of two children as friends torn apart by tragic circumstances that separate them.
