Radio was invented in the early 1920s with the first station being KDKA, stations started dispersing around the United States. People used radio stations as TV because back then TV wasn't a thing until 1927. Radio was used for all types of things like advertisement, news, music, shows, etc. Advertisement was a big thing as well, because when people will listen to the radio or listen to their show the advertisement will pop up. "Between 1923 and 1930, 60 percent of American families purchased radios. Families gathered around their radios for night-time entertainment." The person that was brilliant enough to invent this amazing invention was, Guglielmo Marconi. People not only used the radio for listening to music and listening to show, they used it to communicate with others kind of like a phone. In the middle of making the radio, Lee and Marconi were going against to see who could make a better radio, at the end they are bot geniuses in our perspective. Along came Paul and Joseph Galvin, along with William Lear, they all invented the first automobile radio in the 1930s called "Motorola" or motorized Victoria. Radio has come a long way now, in our time we don't use radio as much anymore. The only similarities they have now is, we listen to music and listen to the advertisement when we have to because advertisement isn't a huge thing anymore. Radios are not used to bringing families together, unless you're having a party and use the radio to play your music. We do listen to shows on the radio, but they aren't really shows, they are sports. Say you are on the road and you're missing your game just change it to the radio stations playing the game and you listen to the game.
