Probiotics
Every day we are learning more about the connection between diseases and the importance of healthy microbiota. In order for our body to be in top health, we need to make sure the microbiome in the gut is balanced with good bacteria. “The microbiome is a community of microscopic organisms. Trillions of tiny bacteria that live in our intestines and influence every facet of health” (Tweed). To help create the balance, we have the availability to take probiotics which are living bacteria that go to our gut and ensure our health. Anyone can take a probiotic and it is important to do so. Probiotics are very effective in restoring a healthy gut, improving overall health and sustaining life.

With that much of our immunity relying on a healthy microbiome, it is important we maintain its state of health. The microbiome is made up of tone of millions of bacteria. We usually associate bacteria with a negative connotation but in reality, a lot of bacteria actually helps the body function properly (“5 Things”). They play the part of functioning in numerous systems. These include helping function neurologically, helping gastrointestinal health, and helping the health of the gut by nutrient absorption and not allowing harmful toxins to absorb (Tweed). Everybody has a microbiome its state of health depends on many factors. It starts being influenced at a very early stage in life. In fact, in birth your intestinal tract is sterile. Probiotics are basically very specific strains of beneficial microbes that can alter the balance of our guts, replacing harmful bacteria and aiding in healthy digestion (“Good Bacteria”). There are so many strains that individually have been proven to improve certain things. “Specific Strains mean specific benefits. Bacillus Subtilis helps fight autoimmune disease and leaky gut. Leaky gut is a term used to represent an image to perceive what happens when the toxins are “leaking” into your bloodstream because your small intestines are ruptured and could not contain them. Saccharomyces Boulardii helps acne and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Bifidobacterium Infantis helps Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms, diarrhea and constipation. Bacillus Coagulans improves nutrient absorption and reduces inflammation and symptoms of arthritis. Bifidobacterium Bifidum supports production of vitamins in gut. Lactobacillus Casei helps fight infections. Lactobacillus Acidophilus relieves gas and bloating and reduces lactose intolerance” (Tweed).
