Did you know that with all the major changes that were happening in the world during the 20th century that some of the biggest changes that were happening were in the theatrical productions? Murder in the Cathedral was written during the the 20th century, a very important time period in which many things changed in the theatre and many important wars occurred. Some of the historical events that were happening during the 20th century were new inventions coming out. One of those new inventions was the first airplane that took flight. The two men that came up with this invention were the Wright brothers. This took place in December 17, 1903. Another invention was Henry Ford's first Model-T. His model-T's made their first debut in 1908. Another historical event that happened in the 20th century was World War I. World War I was on of the first major wars that involved almost all of the worlds millitary. World war I first began in 1914-1915. One of the major places where it occered was in Germany. And actually when the war started eliot had just came to germany to study and he ended up having to leave only a few weeks after he got there (Oakes). My final historical event that happened in 20th century is World War II. One of the causes for this war was Adolf Hitler and his camps. World War II was mostly fought in germany and the reason for this was thats where the cause of the war was at. This war was started in september, 1939 and lasted tell may 8, 1945. for my theatre facts I have many changes that happened during my time period. Many theatres opened, burned down or were renamened (Burden). Theatrical productions were also starting to be put into streat pageants (Brocket). Some of the influences of his play were the things that were happening in his everday life that he was hearing about and that he was dealing with like the facism (Oakes). He also may have got some influence to be a dramtist and poet because his mom was a former teacher and a amurature poet (Oakes). Murder in the Cathedral was written during the 20th century, avery important time period in which many things changed in the theatre and many important wars occurred. This also influenced t.s. Eliot to do his writes a certain way in which we will learn for years to come and ways we will always remember.
