Since the beginnings of humanity, people use the codes of language to communicate and share their lives’ experiences with the next generations. With the advance of technology and the fast network systems to spread this code, the world’s population has gone beyond the borders of its country, increasing the number of global citizens. Being a global citizen means being aware about facts either national or international, external conflicts, technological developments and all kinds of cultural manifestations around the globe. Moreover, this class of citizens practice the same multilingualism even more, which plays a fundamental role in maintaining the knowledge and spreading it to every single person on the Earth. According to the native of Newton, Mass (2014), the Language is of the utmost importance in all aspects of a culture, it is how we write laws, and how we share values and how we communicate with each other. In order to understand other cultures around the globe, we need to be open-minded and then learn the languages out there. When people share the same language, it is very easy to recognize and help each other. To give you an example, “I had the opportunity to study in Canada for one year and a half, and I can affirm that there is no more pleasurable experience when you help someone sharing the same code, same langue (language) (“Macmillan”, 2016)”. In addition, “a person who speaks multiple languages has a stereoscopic vision of the world from two or more perspectives, enabling them to be more flexible in their thinking, reading more easily. Multilingual, therefore, are not restricted to a single world-view, but also have a better understanding that other outlooks are possible” (Cook, 2001). To summarize, it is due this exchange of life experience and thanks to multilingualism that people improve the cultural understanding about the place they go, increasing the numbers of new global citizens in all nations. All of us need to change our world inside, be open-minded, and seek for new types of knowledge, and for the undiscovered. Afterwards, multilingualism itself cannot foment the comprehension of other cultures around the globe and connect the global citizens we have mentioned before because the code without action is dead. Starting to influence people we surround anywhere we go is a great begging. Finally, be the active voice this world needs, go out of our shelters, and promote essential values of life and of our cultures.
