Intercessory prayers have long been instilled in the Catholic faith as proven by several Biblical examples. In the Bible, Saint Paul advises Timothy in 1 Tim 2: 1-2 to see to it that “prayers be offered for everyone - petitions, intercessions and thanksgiving - and especially for kings and others in authority”; In Genesis 18, Abraham pleads with God for the welfare of the people of Sodom who were put in discomfort and crisis despite having the overwhelming need to pray for his own needs; Likewise, in the time of Exodus, Moses was known to have been interceding in prayer on other people's behalf all throughout his life. Despite there being too much pious exegesis and too little factual information on their lives , it is through their teachings that people realize that all of humanity have a call to sainthood and holiness. Students who are of interest about the topic realize the importance of actual manifestations of this doctrine in the form of written records, chronicles or testimonies of reliable sorts to concretize and solidify the principle of intercessory prayer.
In order to further look into saintly intercession, the study shall consider a great saint and her role in the manifestation of the doctrine of intercession in prayer by the saints. With this, the study will examine the role of Saint Mary as the Mother of God and the Lady of the Church. What made Mary special was the fact that the Father saw in her the essential factor of salvation for all “who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” as per John 1:13.
