History is invigorating and intriguing. History has the ability to put knowledge in a new light. Imagine learning new critical pieces of information and then you visit a museum or place of that particular topic that you enjoy and placing the new information into practice is like getting all the pieces to fit into the puzzle. Now, the pieces fit in the puzzle before; but the person placed a bright LED light instead of a normal light in the light fixture. I have always loved learning, and history enables me to have that opportunity to learn something new. History is captivating to me because it is requires actively seeking knowledge, creates insight into other situations, and enables a person to research important events in history.

When I am actively seeking knowledge, I go directly towards the books in the library in the pursuit of looking for answers. Whether it is a new topic that I am …show more content…

It is captivating to look at moments in history and feel as if you were personally engaged in what actually happened. When being engaged with what is being presented, the knowledge that had been sought out becomes put forth into action. An individual creating and identifying the importance of one situation presents an opportunity for insight of a person's greater surroundings. For example, when I started to understand the time period of history surrounding the Civil War, it lead me to understand the greater meaning of American’s in the South that presently have a problem with statues of Confederate soldiers and the Confederate flag. History also enables the ability to empathize and sympathize with others. Having the insight and knowledge of history enables a person to have the capacity to connect with other people. It is so interesting when people have an opportunity to empathize with like-minded individuals over moments of historical meaning and value.
