Should History Be Forgotten Analysis

The classic saying goes that we need to “learn from our past” but in order to do this, we need to know our past and even our past is not a straight truth. History has always been more about political strategies and opinions than facts. People are forgotten, facts are twisted and events are even ignored, leaving so many lost in time.
Now, no one should be forgotten, no one should be lost in the pages of history, everyone contributes to something. “But because no observer or interpreter of history is unbiased and, even if one were, no one can record the absolute truth in such an imperfect medium as human language, history is, in sum, a branch of literature, where good writers—that is, ones who are persuasive and convincing—prevail by the force of their will and charisma”(History-What-Really -Happened). It's not that all history is a ‘complete lie,’ it's that the writers of history aren’t immune to the human disease of biases, every single human being is biased. However, the reason she is not known, and Rosa Parks is, is because “Some black leaders believed she was too young and too dark-skinned to be an effective symbol of injustice for the rest of the nation. Then, as local civil rights leaders continued to debate whether her case was worth contesting, that summer came the news that Colvin was pregnant — by a married man.”(The First Rosa Parks). Claudette Colvin by no means wasn’t brave when she stood up for what was right. However, back then, she wouldn’t have made as much of an impact as Rosa Parks did. If the black leaders chose Colvin just because she was the first black girl to stand up, we may still be fighting for black
