One might consider graduating high school an ending to a part of their life, but I would consider it the beginning. This will be the first time most high school graduates will be able to make my own life changing decisions. There are things that I know I want to do; maybe not right after high school but sometime in my lifetime. Attending culinary school, and college are what I’m thinking of doing right after high school. Culinary school would be what I’m most interested in doing after high school. I would like to do this first because it is what I am most passionate about and it is my biggest dream to go there. I plan to go to Oregon Coast Culinary Institute, as it is one of the closest culinary schools to Idaho. I will have to apply to Southwestern …show more content…

Eater.com stated “Though Besh acknowledges that culinary school (and especially a high-end one like CIA) may not be necessary to a cooking career, he argues, “Through great education you can gain through these scholarships and mentor ships then you don 't have to settle anymore. And I think you’ll be able to better prepare yourself for the future.” Chef John Besh sees that going to a culinary school can be good, but isn’t necessary. Edward Forster, an executive chef at Buffalo Proper talks about culinary school and says, “I got great things out of it, but you learn professionalism.” So culinary school could help with other things besides cooking, for instance Forster said he learned professionalism. Some food scientists could spend all day in labs and factory settings working with food producers. Other careers in food science could include becoming a FDA/USDA research scientist, a food microbiologist, and a packaging specialist.
