Imagine a quiet, relaxed, and peaceful life boring and dull in every comfort. Now imagine a chance for adventure, hardship, fame, and fortune. What would you do? This question is answered in “The Hobbit”, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. “The Hobbit” is set in the mystical world of Middle-earth. It follows a Hobbit, named Bilbo, who loves nothing more than being in his hole enjoying his many meals and comfortable lifestyle. Then a wizard named Gandalf shows up at his door asking him to come on an adventure. This left Bilbo questioning whether he would go or not. Eventually, Gandalf convinced him; this led to many adventures and challenges. The main characters up to where I have read to are Bilbo, Gandalf, Gollum, Thorin, Dwalin, Balin, Gloin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Bifur, Bombur, and Bofur.
Bilbo starts out as an extremely simple Hobbit and ends up becoming adventurous and brave. His motivation is to defeat Smaug and reclaim the Dwarves stolen treasure. Bilbo is an extremely dynamic character, throughout the book he is an ever-changing character who will surprise you in many ways. His main character traits include being positive, a homebody, well mannered, and a good host.

What I appreciated most was the relatability of being a rather simple person with much bigger ambitions and the well-developed world that backs up this strong story. I don’t think their is anything Tolkien could have done better, this book is an amazing example of great literature that will and has lasted the test of time. This book was extremely compelling to read. I never liked putting it down, all the battles and situations this group got themselves into made you want to find out the resolution and possible consequences. “The Hobbit” was exceptionally descriptive, it truly brings you into the story with how it described the peaceful village of Hobbiton or the true beauty of
