There's nothing better than a nice cold milkshake on a hot summer day. Milkshakes use to be not as well known as they are now, they used to be known as frosted shakes, their catch phrase was “frosted shakes add a dash of your favorite ice cream”. The start of the milkshake became widespread in 1930 because a new milkshake maker could make 5 milkshakes at a time. They came up with several catchphrase like “twist it, chore it, make it cackle.” (“Highland Park Soda Foundation”). There were several inventions that helped make milkshakes a popular item to get, for instance the growth of fast food restaurants thrived on having milkshakes to get young customers. The start of the modernized hamburger is a cool one, the mongolians started the first idea of a hamburger as on the go meal. The mongolians would keep grounded up mutton between their horses saddle and their horse to tenderize the patties, if you think that is gross they ate it raw too because on their journeys to conquer countries they didn't have time to make a fire and they also didn't want their enemies see them coming. Although from that cool and slightly disgusting idea the mutton patties turned into a delicate dish in Russia. The Russian dish soon moved to Hamburg Germany which helped get its name. Many people migrated to America and brought their favorite foods one food being hamburg steak (“hamburgers”). Many people like hamburg steak but it wasn't a hamburger yet because it didn't have buns. People take claim to inventing the hamburger. One person was “grandpa oscar” who cooked ground up beef on a grill and also invented a bun for the hamburgers. Now hamburgers are a true American dish. Steak ‘n shake started out as a chicken restaurant and a gas station that was merged together. The owner of steak and shake Gus Belt worked in the marine corp. for 4 years but then followed his dream of becoming a cook. Gus started out grinding steak out in the dining area to insure that people know that it is real steak, since the 1930s the grinding of meat is insured that they do it “at their own commissary” Although you can't be sure (“Steak ‘n Shake”.)1970-1984 steak ‘n shake was losing more than they were making so they turned the company over to the ceo of Circle K and he turned it around majorly. Although Cirkle K turned the business fate around Steak ‘n Shake bought out Circle K in 2004. The name Steak ‘n Shake is a little bit misleading being that there is no steak on the menu (“Steak ‘n Shake”.) Steak ‘n Shake is not only a great restaurant but it has good history.
