Different stories and poems teach us about lots different thing and sometimes it's about history sometimes it's about countries or maybe even other famous people, but sometimes they teach us about other cultures as well as our own and this essay is going to inform you about the different values that are in the two well-known poems/stories “The highwayman” and also “The man from snowy river” that are both set around the same period of time. In this paragraph, you are going to read about the values in the stories that were listed above. Love to each other is one of the main values in the highwayman, this is easy to understand from the beginning of the story when the highwayman sais to Bess the landlord's black-eyed daughter "One kiss, my bonny sweetheart; I'm after a prize tonight, but I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light". This goes back to the question 'how do stories teach us about different cultures and our own', that sentence clearly describes the time they were in where people keep gold, but the highwayman did not want the gold to himself but instead wanted to give it to Bess the landlord's daughter for her love, and for a single kiss. …show more content…

I that sentence the old man is referring to the smaller racehorse owned by a man, that his name is unknown in the story. This sentence is mainly trying to discourage and disrespect the smaller race horse and it's rider, when later in the story the smaller race horse and it's rider go dawn a hill no other rider and horse went down. This clearly shows that in the place, time, and culture they lived in the stronger got to decide and be respected by the many others that are around
