John as we know today was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He was also the brother of James, who was also an apostle. John was the son of Zeebee and of Salome. His father was a fisherman while living in Bethsaida in Galilee on the border of the lake Gennesareth. John's mother was one of many women who gave to the maintenance of Jesus Christ. John's parents were very good people, they loved God and his son. It is said that john and his brother James were fishing when Jesus came and chose them. They were soon known as the fishers of men. The John of whom I am talking about is John the Evangelist.

"It appears, that of all the apostle John was especially favoured with our Lord's regard and confidence, so as to be called the disciple whom Jesus loved" (Peoples Bible-John 1). Even though John loved his leader so much, he still ran away like the other disciples did when Jesus was arrested. John was still their when Jesus had his trial and was crucified. Jesus also in trusted John with the care of his mother. John was there with Jesus when he would perform all of his great miracles. On of the famous lines from John is "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (Peoples Bible- John 6). John was the spiritual evangelist. John and his brother James were called the Sons of Thunder.

During the era of the new church, he did his work in Jerusalem and in Ephesus. During the time of Jesus, John tried to keep Samaritans out of their group. Jesus told John of the way it should be done. They found churches in Asia Minor and began baptizing and converting Samaria. John has also done a lot of good in some other countries. ...e, but Jesus knew what would happen. Then Jesus did something extraordinary. He walked on water. Jesus saw that the disciples were in trouble and so he went out to help them. In the twelfth chapter of John, he predicts his death. He told the disciples that who ever served him, that his father would honor them. In chapter thirteen Jesus predicts his betrayal. Jesus knew that Judas Iscariot would betray him for money. Judas was offered thirty silver coins. The people who hated Jesus arrested him. Jesus also told of Peter. He said, "I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times" (Holy Bible 803). Later it talks about Jesus and his crucifixion. John loved the Lord so much. He stayed in Jerusalem until the death of Mary. John was also the only disciple to die of a natural cause. John died at about the age of one hundred.
