Changes will come and go in the world, but family will be steadfast. There are many things that change throughout People of the Book, but family is a constant. No matter what part of the book you are reading it will most likely tie in with family somehow, whether it is positive or negative. The three families that have the most influence on the reader during the book are Ozren and Alia, Isak and Ina, and Lola and the Kamals. These characters are all influenced greatly by their families during the story. Here is how family largely impacted these small characters. The first family is Ozren and Alia. Both members of this family influence each other. They have a huge impact on each other and would not be able to survive without each other, which is shown in the book. The bond between the two is very strong. This is shown whenever Ina makes Lola taker her to Izak. She was not supposed to find him, but her will was strong enough to find a way to be with him. Even whenever Ina is dying and Izaks foot his frozen he would not give up on her. Izak tried his hardest to save Ina and when he realized that he could not he died along with her the way they both would have wanted. So, even in death they were inseparable. These characters are molded by each other because they live for one another and are extremely close. This family has the most influence on the character out of any of the other families. The heart that the Kamals had is unbelievable. Lola is basically an orphan after her family was taken by the Nazis and the Kamals did everything they could to help her out. This shows that there was still good in some families in society during such a bad period. The impact that the Kamals had on Lola is unrivaled. They rescued her from the streets and saved her from death. Lola is also changed or molded a lot by her family. Whenever the Kamals take her in she starts doing things that she did not do before. She was not very religious, but listens and watches the Kamal’s religious acts. She also learns a lot from the Kamals. Lola was already a good person, but she is able to stay how she was and learn new things along the way with her family. Lola’s family has a very positive force on her and gets her back on her
