Child Labor

Child labor is a world-wide issue that is affecting the mentality of millions of children. While some forms of child labor are traditional like working on family farms or factories, many other children are forced into it, in an abusive matter and some of the conditions are unbearable. There are many different practices of child labor: Agricultural (plantations and farms), domestic work (in homes), Manufacturing, and Mining and quarrying. There are many solutions to this problem and one of them is getting the government involved and creating a law to stop it.

Child labor emerged from multiple ways: poverty, child abuse, traditions, and family expectations. Poverty is widely considered the main reason for child labor. Family expectations are also a main factor: the parents have financial issues or it’s a tradition from the family for the children to work. Many kids need to get an income to provide money for their family and many reasons why children are hired is because they are easier to exploit

There are many different views on child labor, some believe it should be abolished and some think its necessary. Some children are the only income earners meaning they have to work in order to raise money for their family, but some children are put to work just to be disciplined or because they have no other choice. But working at a young age causes the children to delay their mental and physical development both internally and externally. Poor countries are unable to provide neither monetary support nor federally funded benefits for those in need like welfare in the United States and therefore, the only solution is to allow children to work to support their families or to let them starve or live without a home.
