In the one of the most famous tragic love stories ever written by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet tells us a story about two young star-crossed lovers battling a terrible family feud while facing obstacles in their way just to be able to have a life together. Throughout the story Shakespeare never really gave out the main theme in the story. I personally think that his main theme was the inedibility of fate, while telling us this theme he used foreshadowing, conflict, and tone throughout his story.
In the beginning of the act one Shakespeare gives out examples of foreshadowing right away. In act one Romeo is deeply depressed because Rosaline does not want to be his lover but Benvolio comes in and says” Make yourself lovesick by gazing …show more content…

Society. Romeo and Juliet face misfortune when they both find out that their family would not accept their relationship due to their rivalry. For example in act one the nurse tells her that Romeo is a Montague Juliet replies by saying “Love is a monster for making me fall in love with my worst enemy.” (1.5.140). This is an example of man vs. society because in the story society is telling them that they should hate each other even though they are deeply in love with each together. Also another kind of conflict Shakespeare used was man vs. self, in the story Romeo and Juliet have to deal with a lot of stuff. Like not being able to have a huge wedding because their family did not get along. So in the story they have to deal with their own problems, for example in act three Juliet was battling with herself about the death of Tybalt. Juliet’s reaction at first was hatred towards Romeo but soon after she said “Probably because my cousin the villain would have killed my husband. I’m not going to cry any tears. I would cry with joy that Romeo is alive, but I should cry tears of grief because Tybalt is dead” (3.2.100-105). She feels that Romeo is a villain for killing her cousin but she changes her mind when she remembers that Tybalt always wanted to kill …show more content…

The tone can often be described as an adjective, for example in Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare mostly used romantic, dramatic and violence. Since the beginning of the story Romeo instantly shows his dramatic side when he finds out that Rosaline doesn’t want to love him and just stays in his room all day. In act one he says “What’s sad is that love is supposed to be blind, but it can still make you do whatever it wants.” (1.1.160-165). Here he was talking to Benvolio about Rosaline and Romeo was talking about never finding love again. But as the story ended Romeo and Juliet showed a lot of compassion for each other because when Romeo found out Juliet was dead, he didn’t feel the need to be alive anymore and Juliet felt the same with Romeo. When he opens Juliet’s tomb he says “Come, bitter poison, come, unsavory guide! You desperate pilot, let’s crash this sea-weary ship into the rocks! Here’s to my love!”(5.3.115-120). But right after that Juliet woke up and found him dead and she stabbed herself while kissing Romeo one last
