The Compsons Decline

Explanation (two sentences):Quentin’s thoughts on time had drove him to breaking his grandfather's watch. Quentin’s mania over time has driven his to wanting to stop time, to put a halt on life so that nothing bad happens, he is to late however, because the bad events that he has experience have already occured.

Lead in: Benjy conception of time is in the past instead of the present.
Evidence: “In his undeveloped unconsciousness.....without language and therefore without the power of reflection and the interpretation of the past.”(Bleikasten 2)
Explanation (two sentences): Benjy is retarded, when he sees something he will relate it to a memory in the past. His physical form may be in the present where he walks, but his mental form is lingering in the past.
