Literature has definitely evolved today. Still in this modern day, it aims to provide entertainment and intellectual enlightenment to its readers. Literature opens our eyes and makes us see beyond what the eyes can actual see. It takes us to the past and let us know about the history not just from the books but from the actual people who experienced it themselves.

Two of the most well-known writers in the history are Charles Dickens and Mark Twain. Charles Dickens was an English writer and a social critic known for his literary style, a mixture of fantasy and realism. Mark Twain, on the other hand, was an American writer and humorist. It summarizes the American humor approach in writing. It was something that when you first read, you’ll expect that Twain wrote it because of its imaginative and humorous approach. He used characters like animals to have a different style on the writing. The story was funny however, I got confused by the end of it. It turns out that the narrator was fooled by Wheeler, the one who told the story about Jim Smiley, and did not actually answered his question about the person he was looking for instead was told by this man about the tale of a person who always bet on everything. The writing was definitely entertaining and I’m sure that anyone who reads it will actually understand the story and learn from it.

On the other side, Charles Dickens’ “The Baron of Grogzwig” was a very interesting piece of literature. As a reader, you can definitely see the British influence based on the writing and the use of language. Dickens’ work was something that I would see in real life. The story was about a Baron who was discontented with what he does everyday and finally thought

that he should marry someone. But then, he became the fat forty-eight-year-old man who realizes that he lives a life with an unhappy wife, thirteen children and no fortune. He then decided to commit suicide but at the end, after realizing everything he went through, decided to live his life and die happy.
