The movie is centered upon the touchy yet timely topic of the domestic violence. The key issue, the brutal cycle of violence and denial within a family is conveyed to the front in a manner that demands no special attentiveness. Based upon the Maoris (The Polynesian warrior-race who settled or, more appropriately, conquered New Zealand some 1000 years ago). (Berardinelli) The movie is based upon a couple and their five kids who live in an urbanized area of Newzealand, Beth and jack are the main characters where jack the muss, is a severe alcholic with serious temper issues. At a glance it seemed that their marriage is a perfect match, but later the reality confirmed that their married life is not that good and thus have a domino effect on their children and their relation with them. Beth was a strong but blunt lady who always wanted to speak no matter which situation the wind is blowing. She tried to keep the family as together as possible by her words, actions and deeds but jake always ended things up in the wrong way. Out of five, one of their son boogy was arrested and none of the parents appeared at the court hearing. The kid was sentenced to social welfare custody while the eldest son Nig, moved out to join a local gang of wankers. The family relationship health was totally spoiled and weak.
