Power is kind of thing that everyone wants to have it, but it’s not easy for everyone to have it. The novel is infused with a lot of different powers. Each characters in the novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz has their own power which represent their own feature. Power is something that can change a person. Power itself doesn't destroy a person, but the pressure of having the power paired up with temptation and personal flaws that are amplified with the ability to exercise them can cause destruction. Diaz emphasizes different kind of power in the novel such as supernatural power, power of body, and power of love.

Trujillo was so bad that he destroyed whatever he touched. Readers can immediately think of Mugabe, Saddam or Allende, and of the consequences with leaving egomaniacal dictators in power. By being under control by Trujillo, people are being frightened. Their lives’ beliefs are no longer. There is no doubt that fuku is one of the most powerful dictatorship in the novel. Is fuku a curse of consequences? In the world, everything is equally. If people make a bad choice, they will receive a bad result. Moreover, if a person makes a bad choice, the fuku will fall into him/her. In the real life, people have to make many choices which cause many consequences every day. Some consequences are good, but some are not. If people don’t make a good choice, they will receive a bad consequence.
