About 11,000,000 people died during the Holocaust, which was organized by Adolf Hitler. Hitler was Chancellor of Germany from 1933-1945 (12 years). There were about 23 main concentration camps during the Holocaust. Auschwitz was one of them. 6,000,000 of the 11,000,000 people that died were Jews. Shmuel could’ve been one of those Jews. Bruno could’ve been one of the other 5,000,000. The book might not have been true, but it was based on the truth. The movie, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is not as good as the book, because the book is more detailed, and interesting.
The book, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas characters have different relationships than in the movie. The Mother’s and Lieutenant Kotler’s relationship is very different in the movie compared to the book. In the movie, Mother doesn't seem to enjoy Kotler’s company very much. Although, he seems very close to the family in the the movie and book, Kotler and Mother seem to have a special bond in the book. The character’s relationships are very different in many ways.
In the movie, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the scenes are cut a lot shorter than in the book. For

Ib both, the reason why Bruno goes with Shmuel to the other side of the fence is to find Shmuel’s papa because he’s missing. Bruno and Shmuel ended up dying the same way in both versions, although there was much more detail in the book. The book also goes further in time to after the incident. This was the biggest similarity between the book and the movie.
The overall storyline of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas was the same, but in the movie there was a lot of detail lef tout. The movie is more basic and doesnt have as much detail about the characters feelings/emotions. Overall, Bruno learned that curiousity kills, and his family learned to be responsible and not take things
There were many things that were the same about the movie and book but I choose the main things that needed to be told. First off, True Son believes that he isn’t white and never will be. This is a very important part of the story so they had to include it in both because it shows how True Son changes throughout the story.
Furthermore, one of the main differences between the movie and the novel, Twilight, are the characters. Although both stories share the same characters and background information about the characters, there are differences in their
The movie started out with them walking at the beginning, and the book did not say that they were walking. I think that the book started out differently, I also the movie missed some parts from the book. There were things that the book mentioned, but the movie didn´t show. The movie was more detailed but I'm guessing that
Certain scenes seemed powerful and well interpreted. Both Ralphs and Piggys were well selected and portrayed in both movies. Simon in the second version seemed too young for the big role he was given in the book. Also if you notice in the second movie, the director added kids of color. A huge drastic change since in the book they were all English boys in during World War II. When you think about it, you imagine them blonde, blue eyes, and fair skin. So to add different ethnics in this movie was a bold move, you wouldn’t know how the people would react to that. Which brings me up the accents of the boys. One movie actual English accent while the other was an American accent. The author emphasized that the boys were English and to put kids with American accents set the thing off. Which brings up the choice of language in both movies. The black and white version they used a lot of dialogue from the book. They mostly made the movie just as the reader would imagine. While in the second movie, the director’s choice of foul language for Jack to use towards Piggy was a shocking reaction to the viewers, as you didn’t expect him to say that.
What happened on the other dark side of the fence in Auschwitz? That 's something that no one wanted to know. More than 6 million jews died in the Holocaust. Nazi soldiers took certain groups of people to concentration camps, where they were put through hard labor and given little food. Many people died of starvation and disease. Hitler was responsible of all of this, he used Jewish and other groups of people as a scapegoat. He then forced other people from Germany or other countries to be part of the army called the Nazis. The Nazis laughed at the people in the camps while they were beaten to death. Auschwitz is the best know camp, more than 1,100,000 people were killed at this camp (Nizkor.org). The main character in The Boy in The Striped Pajamas, Bruno a German was only 9 years old when his family and he moved
The boy in the striped pajamas is a tale of the Nazi and the Jewish. There is a family of two kids and a husband and wife; they all lived in the Nazi Germany. The father was a solder, the boy was named Bruno and was nine years old. At the begging of the movie the father got promoted to a new position and he will be a making decisions for the soldiers, because the father was getting promoted to a higher position the family had to move away from their lovely home in Berlin to a new house in an unfamiliar place called “out with”. When the family arrived to their new home the boy notice that there was nothing around their new house, and he was devastated because he had left his friends behind. Bruno went upstairs and picked the room that he wanted, and while one of their
In the movie segregation and racism is more emphasized. To emphasize segregation and racism the movie adds characters ( the cousins) and some scenes. In the book segregation is mentioned for about three times,
Bruno describes the different armbands and flags that the Nazi soldiers used to manipulate Germans as well as intimidate Jews with their presence along with “ the flags presented everywhere along the downtown area,” (Boyne 23). Along with the German’s oblivion during the holocaust, Jews were just as much unaware of what was happening to them as well. Shmuel, for example, explains how terrified he was when him and his family were taken from their home and sent to “Outwith “ right in Bruno’s backyard. Shmuel also tells Bruno about his life before the holocaust and even when his normal life starred to change after he came home to his “mother making armbands for us from a special cloth and drawing a star on each one.” (Boyne 126). Because Jews were so unaware of what was happening to them, this caused them to find someone to blame, Germans. While Germans did add to the misery Jews were put through, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas suggests that Jews and Germans truly have nothing to blame on each other but instead the committee and leaders during the holocaust, Nazi soldiers and Adolf
In the book the husband was the one who grabbed the black dot paper. And then his whole family had to choose one. His wife ended up being the one who had to be sacrificed. In the movie the husband was at home because he had a broken leg, so his wife was the one who had to choose for him, and ended up with the black dotted one. So her and her daughter both had to draw to see who would be sacrificed. The mom was the one who ended up having to be stoned. Therefore that was a big
Some of the characters in the novel, like Lennie, are portrayed differently in the movie. In the novel, Lennie is said to be “a huge man” (2), but in the movie he isn’t very big, although he is bigger than George and some of the other characters. In the movie he is stronger and bigger than the others, but not to the extreme amount that the book portrays him to be. Also, Lennie is depicted as very mentally challenged, which is shown by the way he speaks. Whereas in the book, Lennie is said to have a mind of a young child instead of being disabled. As well as Lennie, Curley’s wife is represented a little bit differently. In the movie,...
The plot in the film is very similar to the book but in parts, especially towards the end, the plot is slightly different to the film. The plot is varied in the film to show
Shmuel appreciates the complexity of the relationship because even after Bruno betrays Shmuel – Shmuel is the one who ended up with the consequences, but forgives
While he is there in the camp he sees and experiences many traumatic events, as well as him being the only one out of his family to survive. In the film “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” Bruno is a nine year old German boy who experiences World War ll outside of a concentration camp his father runs. When Bruno gets curious he befriends a Jewish boy inside the camp and decides to come into the camp to help the boy find his father. Bruno and his Jewish friend end up being sent to the gas chambers and die. Both accounts of the Holocaust share many similarities and differences.
The Holocaust was one of the most tragic events in history. More than 6 million Jews were killed while many more were fighting for their lives. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne and Night by Elie Weisel are two different accounts from minors perspective of the events that took place inside the concentration camps. Though these accounts are different they share a lot of similarities.
‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ is a 2006 novel by Irish novelist John Boyne; this is his fourth novel, and the first he has written for children. My classmates and I have read the book and watched the trailer of its newly releasing movie. And I have to say, this novel is really remarkable. The novel truly engages the reader completely into the book and it’s difficult to put down. “Believe me”!!.......the trailer is all the more brilliant, with a high standard quality and exceptionally mind capturing images.
