Sociology is the study of society and human behavior. I conducted my study of human behavior and society at The Big E. The Big E is located in West Springfield, Massachusetts, I attended the Big E on Thursday, September 28th 2017 at 11:51 AM. It was a beautiful, sunny and 75 degree day. I picked this location because it is a well known fair and from what I remember when I attended when I was little, it brought people from all over the country. If it brought people from different states, then you could imagine that there would be different races, cultures, ages, genders and people of different ethnicity’s in attendance. In the workplace we learn quite a few different attributes that make us better employees and better people overall. While in the workplace we learn how to work, patience, time management, policies, customer service, reliability and we learn about the value of money. At The Big E, you know when someone is an employee there because they all have ID cards they have to display on their persons where it can be seen by anyone. Whether you’re a food vendor, a maintenance person, a ride operator or a manager of the fair itself, you have to display your ID. I observed a Big E staff member walking at an extremely brisk pace through the park, you could not only see his ID but he was also wearing a Big E staff shirt. In a nut shell, people assume boys are raised to play with trucks, play sports and get dirty while girls are raised to play dress-up, house and have tea parties. Most families might raise their children to do those specific things based on their gender but some families are different. In my family, I was raised to play with whatever I wanted to play with. I played outside and got dirty, I played soccer and basketball with my brother by my side but our sister was inside, staying clean, playing with barbies and doing her hair and make-up. Maybe same-sex couples raise and teach their children to be who they want to be and not force them to play
