The Bahamas is a tropical place that has unspoiled wilderness and crystal clear oceans with a laid back, carefree attitude of the locals. The Bahamas is an independent nation with a constitutional parliamentary democracy, public and private schools. The economy of the Bahamas consists of major industries, exports, imports such as financial services as well as a prime tourist spot. The Bahamas is known for some of the most amazing beaches that are known around the world. The Bahamas have a unique culture and interesting facts about its history.

In the Bahamas, 158 of the 210 primary and secondary schools are being fully operated by the Government of the Bahamas. The 52, remaining schools, are operated by private schools. The main language spoken, in the Bahamas, is English and Creole which is spoken by Haitian immigrants. 24% of the national budget is reserved for education. No tuition is required for the government schools. The quality, of the education, is not equal with private schools. 66,000 students are enrolled in Bahamian schools.

Children can start nursery level school at the age of 3 and kindergarten at the age of 4. The kids will continue through high school to grade 12. In the Bahamas, school attendance is mandatory from ages 5 to 16. Public and private schools have about 3,000 teachers. In public schools, teachers will have 20 to 30 students per classroom. In private schools, teachers will have 16 to 25 students per classroom. In the Bahamas, the literacy rate is 95%. The most common classes taught, in the Bahamas, include math, English, science, religious studies, literature, history, French and Spanish geography, economics, social studies and physical education.
