Headaches is one of the most common ailments in the United States but that does not mean you just let them run your life. Out of all the headaches, migraines can be the worse but they are definitely not the end of the world or your life. Other Types of Headaches. As you can see, there is a lot that is associated with migraines, but what if the headache you have is not as severe as that? The other type of headache that is most common in the United States as well are tension headaches. Headaches, which are also called cephalgia, can accompany many diseases and conditions like emotional distress. Women are also twice as likely to suffer from tension headaches than men. Now this is where a tension and migraine will start to differ in a way. For some they can start to develop a tension headache from staring at a computer screen for too long to driving for long periods of time. Cold temperatures is another big trigger for a tension headache. Other triggers can be anything from eye strain, dry eyes, alcohol, fatigue, smoking, a simple cold or flu, sinus infection, caffeine, poor posture (which is a problem for many, myself included), and emotional stress. A dull head pain, pressure around the forehead, and tenderness around the forehead and scalp will start to develop after a while. These types of headaches are very easy to manage because a simple pain killer or over the counter drug can be taken to alleviate the pain within 30 to 45 minutes. To the times where I would be out of work, stressed because I could not provide for myself like I wanted to and had to and unfortunately had to rely on other people. Just having so much heavy stuff and my mind and sometimes crying myself to sleep because everything was going from bad to worse and feeling like nothing good was going to come my way, I knew then something had to give. I would research ways to get rid of headaches but all of them just did not seem to work for me. Then that is when the best possible treatment for me came my way and that was when I started massage school.
