“In 2012, there was 661,000 cases of missing people; and that is just from that one year. Very quickly, 659,000 of those were canceled. This is so, because they were found by the technology that we use today.” (www.npr.org ). In other words, a lot of people went missing last year. But, thanks to technology, people were able to find over 80% of them! Some societies need technology to help one another live a happy life. Take The Giver, by Lois Lowry, for example. In The Giver, there is a society that is really different than our society. There are a lot of rules, and no privacy at all. The way that the “Head Committee” watches the citizens of the society, is by all the technology that they use. People use things such as microphones, cameras, …show more content…

According to Foxnews, “Tagg told FoxNews.com that the only technology still functioning in certain phones after the battery dies is Near Field Communication (NFC), which can be used for mobile payments. “Even if your cell phone is dead you could still buy a coffee or gain entry to your office using NFC technology,” he said. “When you do this, the bi-product is you report location as you do so.”” (www.foxnews.com ) This technology basically allows people to be tracked even when their phone is dead. They could not see colors but they were able to find heat. That was [Jonas’s] only worry other than stopping to rest.” (Lowry, 211). This shows that the Giver’s society didn’t have much technology as we do, and because of that, they couldn’t find Jonas as easily. Possibly, if they people in the Giver had our technology to help find Jonas, then they might have been able to find him before he left the …show more content…

Also, the crime in the area that use the tracking devices could go down because people know that they are being watched. Not to mention, that even though this can lead to other people hacking into other devices to find out personal information, we are coming up with ways to prevent this so everyone is safe. This proves that tracking devices can help solve many world wide problems. So, because there has been a lot of crimes and disappearances, we need this sort of technology in the world to help solve these problems. But first, we have to trust the people that hold the technology in their hands. If we do that, then we can help solve to
