Tactic Knowledge Demonstration Speech

When replicating certain tasks, they don’t always turn out exactly how the original. Even though one followed the exact steps and followed the instructions, it won’t come out the same. For example, when replicating a recipe one will follow the exact steps that were given to them to make the recipe and they follow it. The thing is that when we try the recipe we eyeball certain steps. Like if it says add a pinch of salt we will do as told, but our pinch of salt can be a different amount as to what the recipe is referring to. Replicating experiments don’t always end up the same way as the original. Simple because some things can’t be replicated because we won’t follow the steps really carefully. Even in some cases the experiment is followed carefully, …show more content…

It is in fact call “Tactic Knowledge”, Michael Polanyi gave that knowledge its’ name (H.M Collins, 56). Polanyi described this knowledge as a skill that you just do without having read any instructions or have been taught to do it, one just makes it naturally (H.M Collins, 56). It is like when you first learn how to ride a bike, you are just told to make the pedals and move the handles around a certain way when turning or when one is about to fall. Learning to ride a bike cannot be taught by reading a book, but by just teaching yourself in a way. Sergio Sismondo also gave this knowledge a mane which was “enculturational” (Sismundo, 108). In Sismundo’s words enculturational was a “model assumes that socialization is necessary” (Sismundo,109). Explaining that this knowledge is like tactic knowledge doing certain tasks that don’t require one to have a type of skill or even experience because one just does it natural or with the practice in some cases. The opposite of this knowledge would be algorithmic (Sismundo, 109). Algorithmic requires one to actually read a sort to instructions in order to be able to successfully do the task (Sismundo, 109). Because of tactic knowledge and enculturational knowledge some experiments cannot be replicated because even though one follows the same step the experiment will most likely not going to come out as the
