Global warming is an issue that we are currently facing on a bigger scale than ever before. It became even more evident when this past winter, spring came weeks earlier than it should have. Because this issue has become more and more prominent, economical policies have been made to prevent the issues that cause global warming. When making policies to prevent this problem, leaders need to take into account the greenhouse-gasses that are being released into the air and the unexpected early springs. Even if a policy is not as effective as it could be, having a policy that will still help future generations in some way is better than no policy. To start off, greenhouse-gas emissions are culpable for many of the issues that make global warming a problem. Though, there are already policies that tackle the issues of the greenhouse effect. For example, the Kyoto Protocol lessened “greenhouse-gas emissions to below 1990 levels over a five-year period” in countries that participated (Source A, “Kyoto Protocol Takes Effect”). Despite the United States and Australia, who are “one-quarter of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions,” chose not to participate, the plan was still very effective. The Kyoto Protocol took years off of the always increasing problem of global warming.
