Persuasive Essay On Climate Change

Even if the reason of climate change may be the natural cycles, we humans are the major determinant to it. The huge amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing the climate change and this amount is rising day by day, as a result of our actions. Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, generally absorb and emit the heat in the atmosphere to keep the Earth’s climate habitable. However, as we continue to burn fossil fuels, this habitable Earth’s temperature will blow up, and as a result, some species will die out due to various problems which are caused by climate change. According to EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the most obvious consequence of climate change is the rising sea levels, which will cause some seashore habitats to become unavailable to live to its species.
Nowadays, we can see a lot of campaigns to reduce this humans’ contribution of greenhouse gases to atmosphere. These campaign’s missions are usually about reducing the energy that we use, convincing us to use recyclable energy, stopping the deforestation... These missions are all about mitigating to climate change. Climate change mitigation is the actions to limit the significant rate of long term climate change. In other words, climate change mitigation is all of the actions about lowering the humans’ greenhouse gas contribution to atmosphere. It is now too late for humans’ to prevent the effects of climate change, but these effects can be reduced in the future with mitigation. The most popular treaty, disenchant of humanity, is Kyoto Protocol. The main goal of Kyoto Protocol is reducing the human emitted greenhouse gases, in other word, mitigation. Also in ways that underlying national differences in GHG emissions, wealth, and capacity to make th...

...ry-wide problem because most of the third world countries can’t afford to the adaptation to climate change. Also, according to The Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), mitigation is based on an idea that we need to slow down the economic growth (OECD, 2008). So it will be really hard to combine the adaptation with slowing economies. But it is not impossible if the governments unite and help each other. An example about this is, Western countries are paying to some other countries like India and China to reduce their carbon emissions. Moreover, economist Richard Tol states this in his own words ‘We’re taking away money from the poor countries to give to the poor countries, but rather than spending it on development that is important to them, we’re spending it on an issue like climate change that is important to us.’ (Tol, Climate Economics).
