The Youngest Partisan has many situations from which lessons can be learned. Here are five of them. After reading about how Romi followed his father's message to the letter even though it was hard for him, I decides that I will try my hardest to listen to my parents. As I continued reading, I read about how Romi was willing to risk his life to help others. Closer to the beginning of the war, Romi would secretly give money to Jews in hiding, each time putting his life in danger. After reading this time and time again, I was inspired to help people even when it is hard for me. Another inspiration I took from this book was appreciating how much easier it is to keep kosher nowadays. During the war, Romi struggled, yet succeeded, in keeping kosher

The details of Jem’s daily life as a soldier are interwoven with vivid depictions of actual battles and historical figures in this taut, fast-paced story. And that’s what I like about this book. It brings alive the realities of war and its aftermath.
