Society has been firmly educated on the stressful factors college encompasses such as loans and degrees. Students and parents struggle to not only find a school they can afford but also one they truly believe in- one they can see their child or themselves growing in and learning to the fullest. When considering all the decisions that need to be met upon, there are often factors that are looked over. Some of them far more important than which school provides financial aid or intramurals. In recent years the rape and sexual assault crimes committed on college campuses have been touched on in the news and documentaries such as The Hunting Ground. The documentary exposed large universities for their neglect of the problem. Although this issue had been exhibited, many schools have not taken full action to resolve it. The dilemma of assault is major but can't even compare to the rising issue of drug and alcohol abuse. Binge drinking that is committed on campus grounds is not only a cause of academic failure but deaths and injuries. These kind of results from excessive drinking are also shown from substance abuse. Thousands of college students are injured every year from alcohol related incidents. Binge drinking is a dangerous, common activity done by college students and regularly. Binge drinking is the act of consuming excessive amounts of alcohol in a small period of time (google’s dictionary). More than half of students report binge drinking as a response to the stress of classes. Some students are more susceptible than others to have issues with drinking. A study found that negative incidents related to drinking are at the height of happening in a student's first semester of their freshman year. Fraternities are another vulnerable group that takes part binge drinking and hold true to having the most reported alcohol problems than all other college students. 70 percent of all fraternity brothers take part in binge drinking
