Introduction
Civil engineering deals with the things built around us and the environment. It causes the lives of people to be made easier and comfortable. Civil engineers also solve problems that are presented to them. Many people would think that civil engineering is only related to structures and bridges, but there is a wider discipline to it, some which are less known to people.

Engineers in this field also develop, process and test materials by combining two or more materials to see if they can improve the characteristics of the material to suit specific needs. They need to know the fundamental properties and characteristics of materials, so that they can know how to change and improve the properties. Offshore Engineering
Offshore Engineering is a discipline that deals with the design and building of structures that are to be situated stationary in the ocean environment. Structures built in the ocean environment are usually for oil and gas. Installing platforms, laying pipelines and transportation of fuels are involved in this field. Offshore engineers also conduct surveys and tests to find worthwhile reserves of oil and gas.
Structural Engineering
Structural Engineering is a discipline where strength of structures is designed and analyzed to withstand the horizontal and vertical loading. Analysis of structures is done by determining the forces of each element. Design is the is the configuration of elements in a structure to resist forces that are already known. Overall, structural engineering is to make sure that a structure is strong against the vertical and horizontal forces where the structure

Some areas water resource engineers touch are water treatment facilities, underground wells and natural springs.
Purpose
The purpose of each discipline mentioned above will be discussed below.
Environmental Engineer
Among the topics covered by environmental engineering are pollutant transport, water purification, waste water treatment, air pollution, solid waste treatment and hazardous waste management. Environmental engineers are involved with pollution reduction, green engineering, and industrial ecology. Environmental engineering also deals with the gathering of information on the environmental consequences of proposed actions and the assessment of effects of proposed actions for the purpose of assisting society and policy makers in the decision-making process.
Geotechnical Engineering
In this area of civil engineering, geotechnical engineers will perform a site investigation where the condition of the soil is studied before a structure is built. They extract soil samples and run tests on the soil to determine the properties and strength of the soil. After the properties and strength of soil is known, the design of the structure can be
Engineers are often younger and lack the advanced interpersonal skills needed to solicit and obtain help from operators. Operators are older and generally do not relay possible improvements to the engineers. The following will discuss the problem, stakeholders, solution and implementation. Statement of the problem The problem with pollution prevention is that it requires people to understand more than the intimate details of the production process; they must also understand the technical possibilities. Many corporations have environmental managers, who are generally responsible for helping corporations comply with the law.
Structural Engineers are one of the many trained professionals who are classified under forensic engineering. Structural Engineers (SEs) deal with the frameworks and skeletons of buildings, bridges, towers, stadiums, tunnels, and even roller coasters; in short, virtually every aspect of our world’s built environment. SEs works with other engineers—mechanical, geotechnical, electrical, and civil—as well as urban planners and architects. SEs design the components of a structure that hold its contents—“contents” being people, vehicles, and other property. In buildings, SEs design roof framing, floor framing, arches, columns, frames, foundations, and walls. They work with a broad range of materials, including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and aluminum. SEs must design structures to resist forces from gravity, earthquakes, high winds, water, collisions, and explosions. They develop their designs by performing a complex series of calculations and by utilizing computer programs. The primary duty of a structural engineer is to ensure public safety and to serve the client’s interests while abiding by the appropriate standards and legal codes, which are commonly refer to as building codes.
Environmental hazards arise as well from hazardous materials and waste. Hazardous materials concerns could arise from spills of gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, or solvents from containers or vehicles. Spills could contaminate soils or leach into ground or surface water. And environmental hazards could adversely affect humans, wild life, vegetation and water supply.
The structural engineers use geometry in their design in order to calculate the spacing of their columns and beams for proper strength for the building.
The word engineer comes from the latin word ingeniare. ingeniare means construct or craftsmanship. Ever since the beginning of time we have had engineers. Engineering is the combination of math and science , solving world problems to help better the world around us. Being an engineer takes a lot of knowledge, creativity, and hard work. A typical engineer can clearly see a problem and is capable of fining a solution. A senior engineer or engineering manager usually doesnt do as much technical work, but usally lot of managing. Some of the first official engineers were military engineers. They were employed by the goverment to build such things as roads, bridges, and weapons. US mililary Academy at Westpoint was the first school to offer an education in enginnering. Engineering is a very broad field. Engineers are always at a high demand, we could never have enough brilliant minds making the world better. Engineers are needed everywhere. Engineering managers have to have a bachelor's degree or higher, they usually direct and seek solutions to problems and are sometimes called executi...
In engineering, science is applied. Both areas of venture depend on exact perception of materials and phenoma. Both use mathematics and classification criteria to investigate and convey perceptions. Engineering is entirely different from science. Scientists attempt to comprehend nature whereas engineers attempt to make things that do not exist in nature. Engineers push advancement and development. To exemplify an invention an engineer must put his/her ideas in concrete terms and construct something that a society, community or even a nation can utilize. That something can be a mind boggling design, gadget, a contraption, a material, a strategy, a computing program, an innovation experiment, a new solution to a problem or an improvement of what already exists. Since a design must be practical and useful, it must have its geometry, measurements and characteristics data illustrated. In the past engineers working on new designs found that they didn’t have all the mandatory material to make design decisions. Frequently they were constrained by inadequate logical learning. Thus, they studied physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and mechanics. However, they needed to add the sciences to their profession and thus engineering science was created. Despite the fact that engineering solutions make utilization of scientific principles, engineers must also take into account security, effectiveness, economy , unwavering
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
The civil engineering field is about gathering and interpreting data, being able to give technical presentations to colleagues, team work to design and build a project, projects range from the design and construction of dams, bridges, buildings, roads, and water supply systems. In most cases the works of engineers are admired and sought after. Engineers play an important role in the development and improvement of a society. Yet, like other technical and non-engineering careers the civil engineers also face issues, for example, regarding ethics, high energy building consumption, increased soil and coastal erosion, inadequate water quality, traffic congestion, and some poor infrastructures resilience to disasters. Another example is that unfortunately in the United Kingdom, the civil engineering industry is highly fragmented with 93% of companies having 14 or fewer employees which is not always a great idea, as written by John Miles in Civil Engineering Informatics. There is also a need to implement new professional and educational approaches to new challenges and new implications that are needed for the twenty-first century society. This paper will introduce and explain five different issues that civil engineers are currently facing and elaborate about how these challenges interrelate to each other.
With the help of architectural engineers, our world has become very civilized and advanced over the past decades. Like all other engineers, architectural engineers use logic and creativity to solve problems. They come up with effective designs to assist people in their everyday tasks. In our daily lives we are surrounded by buildings. Places that were once a dessert are turned into cities that now hold amazing buildings. Houses, schools, shopping centers, offices, apartments, airports, etc. are very essential in our society. These buildings do not only please the eye, but they also provide us with shelter and are made to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, snow storms, and strong winds. Would these buildings still function efficiently and provide us with a stable shelter if it were not for architectural engineers? There are different engineers with each their own expertise, but for buildings in particular, architectural engineers are needed. Architectural engineering, also known as building engineering, is an interdisciplinary program that integrates important knowledge from different disciplines such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering , architecture, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics (“Building Engineering”). An architectural engineering professional has to master all the different disciplines because the design of building systems often requires the application of the disciplines. Architectural engineers are important in today’s society because they possess the knowledge and qualifications to work on complex buildings, lead project teams, and most importantly, to provide us with a safe environment.
When thinking about engineering research and development it is important to differentiate it from scientific research. Many people get the two confused. Many inadequacies and shortcomings of engineering research and development come from confusing science and engineering (2). Scientists make an effort to establish a systematic body of knowledge about nature. They use the idea of nature in a very inclusive sense. Scientists are interested in finding out more about nature and relating it to what they already know. Engineers are interested in applying technology to do something useful better. Engineering is the application of technology to meet human needs more effectively (2). Engineers have an interest in science. Science gives engineers new tools and ideas to discover important factors. The main difference between engineers and scientists is their attitude. Scientists are mainly trying to learn. When the...
Environmental management is a process in which a certain company, individual, or partnership do to help protect the cleanliness of the environment. Basically it involves the management of the environment, but the deeper meaning is the step by step process that one does to impact the environment in a good way. It is also implementing behaviors that will benefit the environment.
Civil engineering is a very demanding yet fulfilling career, as the engineer is able to work on a project from its inception right to its completion. When you drive over a bridge, see a building, fly out of an airport, or visit a museum, a civil engineer has had a major part in that
Throughout my lifetime, I have never had to think very much about the working world and everything that went with it. All through high school I took classes I liked or thought would be interesting to me, but never thought that all of those classes were preparing me for what was to come. Before I knew it, it was time to go to college. The four years of high school had flown by and now it was time to choose a major for college. I had never given much thought as to what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The only real occupations that I had really gotten to experience were teaching, the jobs that my parents had, and others such as doctors, dentist, most of the occupations that everyone sees while they are growing up. When I finally decided on my major, I chose engineering, but I didn’t know if I would like it or not. The only prior knowledge I had about it was the fact that my grandfather was an electrical and chemical engineer, and that my parents and teachers said that I would be good at engineering. Recently I have been interested in civil engineering, but what does one do with such a degree? What opportunities are available to a person with a degree in civil engineering on the job market? The broad curriculum that covers many different fields of engineering make civil engineering a major that allows a person to work in nearly any field they wish.

In the most basic sense, engineering means “making things happen.” It is the practical application of science and math, the two subjects I am most passionate about, to solve everyday problems. It opens up a world of opportunity to create innovative technology that influences many aspects of people’s lives, this giving an individual the power to make a difference. While I am deeply interested in the subjects that are the foundation of engineering, in addition I have many other personal reasons for pursuing civil engineering in specific. I am motivated by my desire to fulfill my lifelong goal of creating purposeful infrastructure, to make all of my family proud, and to prove that not all engineers
