Socrates once said millions of years ago, ‘strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and weak minds discuss people’. I, unfortunately, was oscillating between the average and the weak.

People of the same mind surrounded me and conversations never ventured far beyond what has or is happening. What someone has or is doing. I never felt uplifted or inspired.

Life for all its complexities is mesmerizing and captures all our attention. The idea that everything happens on the outside including what happens to your body actually happens on the inside first. With thoughts and emotions, and this can seem like a pretty far-fetched concept.

I would never have considered myself a person of a strong mind nor did I ever think I could be a strong-minded person.

Emotions are very addictive, and more so if you have reacted to them for a long period. If you are now in your 50’s you may find you have a little more work to do than someone in their 20’s. Being in your later years you have practiced a certain way of thinking, talking, and reacting compared to someone younger for a much longer time.

This is now programmed in your subconscious and the subconscious mind knows this to be true for you. Therefore, it will do everything it can to keep you in this place. Attracting the people and events that keep you feeling and thinking the same thoughts over again. This is why it seems change is so hard to do.

A Weak Mind Always Fails

It is why people so often fail at diets.

For example, you decide to go on a diet and you are feeling happy and excited about what you are going to do. The diet starts and your thoughts are positive, you think thoughts such as "I am going to lose so much weight", "I can’t wait to fit into that dress again". You eat healthily and lose weight, you are feeling inspired and of a strong mind, you know you can do
