To what extent are your main texts global? Both of my main texts from the television industry are global, which I will be discussing in further detail. My two main texts are Strictly Come Dancing a flagship programme for the BBC and CSI commonly reffered as CSI Las Vegas, during a certain period of time it was the most watched programme in the world and in 2010 according to Euro Data globally. Firstly, Strictly Come Dancing is a formulaic narrative structure, which is easily exportable, This is because of different cultures,dances,judges and contestants can be altered appealing to a broader audience and this format has been sold to 51 countries making BBC worldwide tens of millions of pounds, which clearly indicates it's success and global …show more content…
Also, in the French version of Strictly Come Dancing known as Dancing With The Stars in countries outside the UK, it was watched by 5 million viewers with 25.2% market share and this was in the second series. Moreover, in the Indian version of Dancing With The Stars it was awarded as the best entertainment television programme in the asian television awards, which is broadcasted in Colours. This suggests audiences find it entertaining and therefore, it has been sold to alot of countries. It can link to the Uses and Gratifcation theory audience watch it for different purposes as it makes them feel involved and engaged and therefore, due to it's sucess it has been bought by alot of countries and they are able to discuss to other's in social media, feel part of it and the Crime Drama's inform them, which has high audience figures. As well as, President Barack Obama rescheduled his meeting with the Libyan authority to watch the US version of the programme rather than catching up as it is an event television, which is a rating's winner for the ABC in 2013. The failing television networks have found a number of elements in reality shows which can save them money. These elements have combined to improve rating, while also improving the amount of money brought into the networks. The networks have had pressure from stockholders to improve the return on their investments, or possible begin to lose their money. So the networks have discovered ways to save money with reality’ shows one being they haven’t had to pay actors. All the main characters of this shows are contests and only one will be ~paid” at the end. In addition to not paying actors, they have also been able to cut back greatly on the number of writers used to write scripts. The reality shows have been in a way been “pre-tested” in other nations. The U.S. networks know that the shows can be successful because of the success they have had in Europe. These facts have all come together ...
Australian commercial television has imported American formats (Bell Phillip, ‘Television’). Even the Australian Logies are becoming Americanised. At the 2005 Logie awards, there were at least two American celebrity guests, CSI Miami actress …… was given a lot of attention at the Logies, because of her famous American celebrity status. The Logie awards which were supposed to be awarded to shows that are produced in Australia, this year awarded a Logie to the OC for the best overseas program. The influence of the American culture on Australian television was clearly evident at the Logies.

Any act of conscious communication always true, in varying degrees, two fundamental objectives. One is to inform, instruct and describe, and the other is to entertain or occupy. The products of the mass communication industry made that mandate the particularity that are targeted to a wide receiver, whose acceptance is intended to conquer. The intent of the act is expressed with the term broadcast (spread through mass media), which once meant to sow broadcast the farmland. The cinema, especially the US, is the great communication industry of the twentieth century. Although in recent decades seems to have given primacy to television, the information, education and entertainment on Western culture influence is undeniable.
In Baz Luhrmann’s film Strictly Ballroom, the concept of showcasing opposing characters using film techniques are shown. These techniques exemplify how Scott and Doug contrast from one another. At the outset of the text, Doug Hastings, experiences fear of others opinion’s aroused from painful past choices, expressed through colour, lighting and dialogue. Conversely, Scott Hastings, displays rebellion over use of dialogue and camera angles. Through similar filmic techniques, Luhrmann brings to life two contrasting characters that are so similar. Suggesting that fear and rebellion can lead to procrastination.

The history of choreography is also very important Any choreography that seems new, fresh and different is usually a variation of something that has been done before. As long as men and women have lived upon this earth, they have danced. The art of movement is among the oldest of the arts.
There is something beautiful about dance, but there is something more beautiful about dancing with others. When a group of 13 girls and 1 boy can come together from 14 different ways of life and move together as one, then a dance team become more than just a dance team. This was not something that happened over night, it took time, effort and about 7 conversations with our coaches about our values. Without all of those components this team would have never became the successful, fighting, dream team that we became.

The massive media conglomerates that operate across the world are changing perceptions and promoting foreign culture at the global stage.
