The rural is a salient part of the welfare of America’s agricultural industry. There is no going around the existing stereotypes we perceive of the country side today. To that end, such stereotypes seem to be everlasting as the mass media continues to portray stereotypes in many films. As Williams says, “disparagements of farmers, of small towns, of anything identifiable as “provincial” can be found everywhere: in comic strips, TV shows, newspapers…” (Williams 2). One prime example is Deep On Hog Mountain, a satire film produced by Tom Krueger.
