Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower – The Gunslinger” includes Roland Deshayn, or Roland of Gillead walking the desert chasing the "Man in Black". The "Man in Black" or Walter is an evil mage. This book details his journey as he crosses the wastelands, finding out the details of the war, his past, and the current survivors.
Stephen Edwin King is an American author of contemporary horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, science fiction, and fantasy. His books have sold more than 350 million copies, many of which have been adapted into feature films, miniseries, television shows, and comic books.
