Sci-Fi and Fantasy are works of fictions that are now known today as a form of entertainment, but from time to time people will confuse the two and interlink them together. A good example would be the film “Star Wars” as its equally debatable on whether it’s Sci-Fi or Fantasy. Star Wars originally was a series of films, however, there were novels that released before the film was aired. These novels were nothing more than the actual script of the Star Wars movies that were already in development by George Lucas in 1997. Star Wars explores the many adventures of various characters such as Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker etc. in an entirely made up galaxy. Star Wars is a controversial topic between Sci-Fi and fantasy, …show more content…

The Force wasn’t really explained scientifically but was broadly stated as “an energy field created by all living things” by Obi-Wan Kenobi from the first Star Wars movie “A New Hope” in 1977. A great example from the movie would be the scene when Darth Vader shows the viewers the power of the force by using it to choke a man from a distance with a simple hand gesture. In a sense, the force is a type of supernatural element as Darth Vader clearly breaks Newton’s law of motion that states that an object at rest remains at rest, now Vader was nowhere near the victim when he used the force so that leaves a big question on how Vader exerted a force on the victim in the first place. Logically, he’s possibly manipulating or altering the physical science behind gravity. Theoretically, in physical science no human being can physically manipulate gravity to choke someone from afar with simple hand movements. So, it’s safe to say that the force is a type of magic, as magic is common in fantasy and isn’t fully explained in vast details. For example, Harry Potter introduces people to magic, which is classed as a supernatural force, similar to that of the Force in Star Wars. Another good example would be the scene in the Star Wars “A New Hope” where Obi-Wan Kenobi plays a mind trick on a clone trooper by using the force. The big issue behind the mind trick is it’s a form of telekinesis, which violates physical …show more content…

The Lightsaber was a very odd weapon, as it was a newly profound technology first introduced in Star Wars “A New Hope.” In the movie it ineffectively explores the whole fundamentals of the Lightsaber as throughout the movie it fails to explain what the purpose it even had and what components really made up a Lightsaber. When it was first introduced to the audience by Obi-Wan Kenobi when he went to go retrieve the Lightsaber from a wooden chest to then giving it to Luke Skywalker, as it was Luke’s Father wishes for his son to have the Lightsaber. The audience are faced with a broad statement by Obi-Wan Kenobi that claims the Lightsaber is a “weapon of a Jedi Knight, others clumsy or random as a blast, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.” Obi-Wan ineffectively informs the audience on what the real purpose of the Lightsaber is. The mechanics behind the Lightsaber has lots of flaws. The key components that make up a Lightsaber based off Al-Greene’s article “A Jedi’s Weapon” consist of a Blade emitter shroud, Blade length adjuster, Blade power adjuster, Ignition, Handgrip and finally a belt ring. The big issue is the design flaws, as the Lightsabers in “A New Hope” were powered by crystals that ignites the burst of light energy out of a Lightsaber, with the ring-coned blade entirely composed of light energy. The problem with this is that metal conducts heat and
