The reason speed limits should be lowered is because Car Incidents, Hidden hazard, the road can get crazy with curves and turns, and also the habit of speeding. Those are the reason the speed limit should be lowered or if they’re lowered then stay the same speed limit. Many people have lots of thoughts of driving on a road because the speed limits are high and they are concerned that dangerous of other drivers. We together will go into more details of the reason the speed limit should be limitation. In the first place speed limits should be lowered or limitation because car incidents. Many wrecks out on highway are caused from speeding on the roads. There’re about 10 car incidents every 30 minutes. Through those car incidents there are about 20 people that die …show more content…
Hidden hazards are through every road manufactured and are hard to detect when driving quick. The reason I would say hazards is because the hazards can be animals, objects, and other drivers along the road. The roads have higher speed limits should be lowered because the driver never knows when hazards are coming up and with the speed limit high they won’t be able to detect the hazard’s objects. When changing the speed lower drivers will be able to notice an object, or animals, and anything hazards. That the second reason why speed limits should be lowered to a reasonable speed for the roads. Equally Important is the how the roads can get weird and the development overtime because of life on earth. Because the road changing over time that can be a very important reason to lower the speed limit or have limitation with the speeds limit. Roads can be roads but the environment around can have those roads changing with the weather. Slower speed limits will let the driver maneuver around the insane roads from the changing of weather erosion. Other important reason why the speed limits should be limited on certain
Drivers who speed often do not realize the enormous danger they are creating. When someone is speeding they have a higher braking time and are often going too fast to notice all of their surroundings, and fail to take all of the safety precautions a driver should use. Road conditions play a large role in the effects of speeding. Choosing to speed can also get a person’s license taken away, cost a fortune, or both.
Every person who has gets behind the wheel of a motor vehicle will be involved in some sort of automobile collision at some point in his or her lifetime. Traffic accidents account for over twenty thousand deaths each year and more than ten times as many injuries. There are a number of factors that contribute to these types of collisions, however, new and evolving laws can account for a large portion of successful preventable measures. In order for laws to be changed or added for the purpose of safer roads and highways, lawmakers have to first look at what factors contribute to such unsafe conditions. The top five causes of automobile accidents that cause injury are distracted drivers, driver fatigue, drunk driving, speeding, and aggressive driving. Laws can be proposed to reduce and even eliminate each of these risks.
Speed limits are very important throughout the world. Mainly because it involves the safety of yourself and other drivers on the road. Most people feel as if speeding is okay if you are driving correctly without any distractions. Well that is not the case at all, if you are sure of your driving and doing more than the speed limit it is a possibility that it can be another person at fault for the cause of an accident. Other drivers driving slowly causes road rage because so many people are in different lanes driving at the same speed limit. Speeding has always been a problem with me because I love to drive fast and I have a heavy foot.
We do have an increase in the number of vehicle accidents, but it can always get better. If we leave it the way it is then these young adults get the practice they deserve. Long highways and busy interstates are prime road for accidents to happen, but if we leave the limit the way it is we won 't see more accidents. If anything we will see a decrease in accidents. From my previous experiences with driving I personally feel that more driving time and practice could benefit everyone. Especially when in the means and terms of a safer environment for everyone. If we were to change the age to eighteen or twenty one then we could potentially see an increase in accidents. If the debate is over whether the percent of accidents would go down or up we have to keep it the same to see a decrease or break even. Furthermore, we need to keep the legal driving age at sixteen to see an sort of improvement and
Infrastructure would improve and the environment would be cleaner as well. Overall, nothing but good can come from a. national speed limit of 55 miles per hour. Works Cited Carrington, Damian. “Speed limit rise would increase deaths and pollution, admits. Government.”
...bit faster than normal. What should drivers do? Well, there is something we can do that would allow for us to be able to raise the speed limits. We can write to our local representatives and let them know the need for raising the speed limits. Provide good research and valuable information that will help them to make the best possible decision. Of course, we must obey the law until the speed limits are changed. God has commanded us to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. (Bible) This was used not only in the aspect of money but also in the aspect of all of Caesar’s laws. The urge is very real to want to break the law, but think about others before yourself. According to Terry Turner we need to think of the why before the how. Basically ask yourself, why do I need to speed? Then after careful consideration of all factors, decide how fast to drive your automobile.
From first-hand experience, one should easily realize that the common man would feel negativity toward raising speed limits. People fall into this trap because the general public is often mislead into believing that abolishing speed limits on highways will only cause more harm than good. People often are the victims of misunderstanding and people rarely observe the advantages offered by increasing the speed limit to a safe level.
Today’s society appears to be constantly on the go. People seem to be pulled in multiple directions at once. Individuals never appear to have enough time to complete tasks that continually accumulate. It can be difficult to criticize someone that tries to make the most out every minute. Unfortunately, some of today’s drivers show a lack of judgment and trying to perform other tasks, while behind the wheel. People may feel this is best use time while getting to a destination. Occasionally, the small amount of time that people are trying to gain results in a time consuming accident. With modern conveniences that are geared toward an on the go public, individuals appear to be too preoccupied to driving safely.
“Have you ever noticed how anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and everyone going faster than you is a maniac?” George Carlin once, jokingly asked. However, this is not the case for drivers on the famous highway systems in Germany. When you drive in Germany you can be“idiot” in the government’s eyes if you go too slowly, drive in the wrong lane or impede the flow of traffic. This distinction is not unique in Germany but is applicable on their federal highway system, aptly named the Autobahn. Rules regarding how anyone driving on the autobahn state that a driver must go a certain speed, or that driver becomes a public safety hazard, much like that of speeders in America. Many foreigners only hear how the autobahn has no speed limit and that is not necessarily true. There are in fact many areas that are speed limited and strictly enforced by the polizei and speed cameras integrated into the guard rail or surroundings. German drivers receive up to two years of very expensive and intensive training before driving within the country. In my opinion, I believe there should be an Autobahn-like system in America because it teaches future generations not only maturity, but also discipline and responsibility.
...oing around a curve. It is important to decrease your speed while going around a curve because you need friction to go around them. If there isn't a lot of friction on the road, and you decided to take a tight turn at high speeds then most likely you would end up flipping your car over or getting into an accident that could have been avoided. Also, if there is bad weather and you are going to fast around a curve most likely you will wind up either spinning out or skidding either causing an accident once again or damage to your car. Thus, it is important to lessen your speed while you are going around a curve.
My last reason is that higher limits would afford police the ability to focus on other enforcement areas such as impaired, distracted or careless driving, and restraint (seat-belt) enforcement. Also with higher speeds people would be more focused on controlling a faster vehicle than their phone and/or other distractions. Most people argue against the higher speed limit because they think it is dangerous, which is true, but only to irresponsible drivers and they also say the speed limit is to prevent high speed crashes. Although the 55 mph speed limit was set in 1974 when cars were not manufactured and not as safe as today's cars. The average car in 1974 going 55 mph took 8.67 seconds to come to a full stop including the 1 second delay for drivers reaction.
lane closures and distractions to motorists. A motorist is driving the speed limit and then immediately has to slam on their brakes because another motorist sees the lane closures and decides to cut in front of them. This type of driving makes motorists mad because they know tha...
The high speed limits are often causes of accidents that cause serious injuries and even death. The speed limit should be lowered so we can control accidents caused by high speed driving, pollution, and the high cost of operation and insurance.
Our neighborhoods need control of speed, too. Accidents not only happen on the highway, but also on residential streets, with the speed limits being 25 mph. Motorists are exceeding these limits as I speak. They would be unable to stop quickly enough for pedestrians, possibly swerving out of control and hitting a house or another car. My street has been monitored, by the city, due to this excessive speeding. The city of St. Clair Shores is trying to make the motorists aware of their speeding by posting a digital sign, which posts their current speed. Without a legal speed limit in residential areas, people would drive in excess of 25 mph all the time. We need this wild speeding controlled soon before something bad happens.
...s to make traffic more efficient. For example, the Ohio Revised Code in section 4511.21 states clearly that "No person shall operate a motor vehicle, trackless trolley, or a street car at a speed greater than reasonable or proper due regard to the traffic." Road speed limits are used to regulate the speed of vehicles. Sometimes people try to get somewhere and they go over the speed limit not realizing that they are putting themselves in danger. Now every time I get in a car with a friend or a family member, I make sure that they are going by the speed limit, not texting and paying attention on the road. It is very important that we follow this rules because they are only protecting us, and keeping us safe. If we want to reduce the millions of deaths that are caused by this imprudence every year we need to start being more responsible when we get behind the wheel.
