In the book Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury has shown us a society that we might become. By analyzing Beatty’s speech, I found out the main point of his speech is that the people have done this to themselves. I have also found out how society has become this way and how it remains. There are four main reasons of how society became this way. My first reason is, society became too large for books too have any relevance. This is one of the main events because if society never became too large, the following events that caused society to become this way, would of never happened. Another example of how society became this way is because of groups. Every group in the society was offended by some type of book. Already I see how its coming true. For example we are depending on our advanced technology so much. In the book the society is depending on the technology to. If all our technology happened to shutdown the society in the book would not make it and in our world most of us wouldn't make it either. Another example is that we have stopped physically communicating, just like the book. In our world we text so much that I am sure that most of us find it hard to start a conversation with someone. In the book it is so unusual to talk to someone. My third example is that the government has so much power. We, the people, are not doing anything about it. In the book, the government has made it a law that the people can’t have any books. And the people of the society are too stupid to let the government have that power. My last example is kids die often. In the book, its usual for kids to die while racing cars. Today, we hear about teenagers shooting people in the news all the time.
