First theorized by Robert Owen, a socialistic community was sought to replace competition with cooperation. Now, a socialistic government is a “fancy” way of saying, a collective ownership. Which just means the citizens have the power in government. In practice, the Socialistic government controls everything, but in the means of production, the market is controlled by society. Within the marketplace, socialism is usually defined as a direct control by the workers in management of the industries and social services. Basically a classless society that guarantees full democratic rights for all workers.

The people in a socialistic community pay high taxes for health care and welfare, and the wealth is distributed equally among all citizens. Except, does it really make sense for everyone to own everything? Some goods tend to be for personal consumption, rather than to share.
In practice, everyone has the right to participate in decisions on how the world’s, otherwise called the global, resources will be used. Therefore no one will be able to take personal control of resources, beyond their own possessions of course. The production under socialism would be directly and solely for use. With the natural and technical resources of the world held in common and controlled democratically.
The purpose of this production would only be to meet human needs. This would involve and end to buying and selling with money, but instead we would take what we had communally produced freely. Everyone would have access to the goods and services designed to directly meet needs. There would also be no system of payment for the work that each person helps produce. Of course, all workers would be on a voluntary basis, meaning on their own free will. The workers would only help produce for needs that has a direct
