“We are able to turn technology off, but a lot of us have forgotten how to.” Clinical psychologist Dr. Linda Blair stated this quote in the article “Social media: how does it affect our mental health and well-being” written by Honor Whiteman. How harmful do you think excessive hours on technology can be to someone’s body? The outcomes can be surprising. Technology really does affect our health. Teens should be more cautious using social media, because sites offer an unspoken promise to fit in, sleep depression can harm the body, and people are anxious and socially insecure from social media networks. In the article “For Some Troubled Kids and Teens, Social Media Can Be a ‘Vicious Circle’”, it is proven that teens are sometimes put under the belief that they have to constantly be updated on social media to “fit in”. Trying to fit in is causing children and teens to lack self-confidence, making it socially awkward to have face-to-face relationships with other people.
