Whether you have heard about it or not, the Snapchat Spectacles are one of the most desirable holiday gifts available this season. On November 11th, 2016, Snapchat revealed that their latest product, the Snapchat Spectacles, are being sold limitedly across America. Since then, this craze has taken America by storm. So, what’s the big hype about? The Snapchat Spectacles are a new take on Google Glass – glasses offered by Google that take videos and pictures (in a very unstylish way), which turned out to be an absolute failure. This time, Snapchat made sure that their product was young, playful, stylish and affordable. At $130 US, the Spectacles are sunglasses that take videos/pictures hands free and are sold explicitly through yellow pop-up vending machines that are appearing throughout America (sadly, not in Canada, yet). …show more content…
You can reach your arms out to people you’re filming, instead of holding your phone up like a wall in front of your face!” These ideas that he introduced to make the Spectacles are what make the Spectacles attractive to us young people and techies. Many celebrities including social media stars are sharing their excitement towards this product and indirectly endorsing the Spectacles, causing many people to have this on their list of Christmas presents. Here in Canada, we are not lucky enough to have the Snapchat bots appear in our cities, yet, but there are a few ways to buy them. On eBay and websites like this, there are many people selling the Spectacles, but at a hefty price. Thus, the next time you go across the border, make sure to grab yourself a pair of the Spectacles because they aren’t coming to Canada anytime soon! The Spectacles are arguably the most successful technology of 2016 and are set to be a game changer in the world of video recording, and now we should just hope Snap Inc decides to introduce the Spectacles in

Virtual worlds such as Second Life and IMVU — which show a 3D environment on a 2D screen rather than immersing the user inside a room or by using an HMD — and the more recent rise of Oculus Rift have all contributed to the rekindled interest in VR. However, major technology and usability advances are still required for a low-cost, broadly used immersive virtual environment. In the meantime, growing popularity of 3D entertainment using 3D glasses — and, increasingly, 3D smart television screens and projections that do not require glasses — may relegate immersive VR to permanent niche status. Currently, augmented reality applications (which superimpose information on the user's view of the real world rather than blocking out the real world) or mixed-reality scenarios (where HMDs and context-aware software are used in a hybrid augmented/virtual environment) are more popular technology approaches to the problem of marrying immersive VR to a consumer

The code of Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) they have a code of ethics that members follow. The code has twenty-four statements with four sections that covers; ethical considerations, in the section one, professional conduct in section two, leadership and their role is covered in the third, and the principles of compliance is in section four. The creators of Google Glass have broken two of its own codes the first one is Code 1.2 Avoid harm to others. This means that they should not harm or injury or have negative consequences to any person. The screen that they have developed is a 1.3 centimeter screen that is just millimeters away from you eye it is held in place by a set of eye glass frames. Your vision could be harmed due to this fact that you have to focus on this small of a screen and all the pixilated images. “Google admits that Glass could harm vision that is still developing, so nobody under the age of 13 should be using it. You also shouldn’t try Glass is you’ve had Lasik eye surgery as it could also cause damage to your vision.” (Humphries, 2013) He also stated that even thought you may have good vision that the glass may cause eye strain, and even headaches with use of the Google Glass. The other code that they have broken is Code 1.7 To Respect the Privacy of Others, the Google Glass has a feature that allows you to take photo, record videotaping and record voices without the other person knowing or permission. This is a complete invasion of privacy, because you as the person are being taped have no idea, and at least with a cell phone you see that the person is recording you. We have enough problems in this would with invasion of privacy issues do we really need another. An example of privacy issue s...
The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset that had one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns to date, with its original focus being on increasing the immersive experience and interaction with games. Recently though, the company was purchased by Facebook for two billion dollars and has announced that other than gaming, they plan to expand the Oculus rift into “…communications, media and entertainment, education, and other areas.” (theconversation) Since the technology can be worn over the eyes, it actually feels as if while the headset is equipped that the user is within the world, or area that the Rift portray in the user’s view. This opens up the potential for communication with family members, lovers, and friends over long distances within ...
In last week’s Olympic games we bore witness to some returning beloved champions as well as some fresh faces! Let’s not forget why we participate in these games my fellow citizens! Every four years we gather at Olympia to participate in a series of games in honor of Zeus. The days leading up to the commencement of the games, champions must travel from all across the country and in order to do this safely, an Olympic Truce must be called. This is presumably one of the only times it is safe to travel across the country but let’s not get caught up on that! In order to participate in these strenuous games, each young man must pledge an oath to the beloved statue of Zeus that they have been in training for ten months. The training and dedication
So, you’re out to lunch with your friends. You’re waiting for your food, and you look around the table to find that all of your friends are on their phones.
There are many companies that distribute used glasses to people. I’m choosing Lions Club International as an example. In Lions Club International, people either mail or place their old glasses in a box. These glasses are fixed up and given prescriptions. The glasses are packed away and sent anywhere with people in need of glas...

She’s running to bathroom. She’s been doing this for the past three weeks. It’s always at the same time. Right after our video production class, right before lunch. I grab our stuff and head to the bathroom. She’s pacing in the bathroom when I get there. I know she won’t be able to control it no matter hard she tries. Jackie finally runs into the stall and I run in to hold her hair for her. I tell her that I’m going to get her a headband. By the time, I get one out of my bag she’s already done and looks like she’s on the verge of tears. She tells me that a little blood came out this time. I ask her if she wants me to get someone, but she says no. She heads to the sinks and rinses her mouth. “I think I’m going to tell my mom,” she says as she’s wiping her mouth with a paper towel. I hug her and we head to lunch.
Get it right the first time That’s was always what the photography teacher teaches. But to do that you have to be ready. Shooting offhand with today’s cameras can result in a blurred shot that does measure up. So, you need to compensate and a tripod will steady your camera, camcorder, and cell phone.
Can you see yourself without a cell phone today? This world has become so technologically dependent that it is hard for anyone to not use a cell phone, a computer, or some sort of device at least once during the day. Since technology has come so far, better education should be possible. Cell phones are a way of communication and can make people feel safe, so it is hard to believe that most schools ban them. It is time for schools to see that technology is the future and it is growing rapidly, along with educational and safety features.
We live our lives through our cell phones and handheld devices which makes every moment of your life able to be put on display in real time. One of the newest products to enter the realm of sharing every moment is the Google Glass. Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display that is developed by Google. Google Glass displays information in a Smartphone-like hands-free format that can communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands. This pair or glasses basically conveys all information you see with your eye to a Google cloud where it is stored. Such data, knowingly and unknowingly, collected and bandwidth pe...
The first is the pricing of equipment. Virtual reality headsets usually sell from 400 to 600 dollars, plus the console or pc needed to use the VR. Pricing for both the console or pc could cost over a thousand dollars, but vive, which is a company owned by htc, is teaming up with google to make a portable, independent VR headset, that does not require a computer or console to operate. The release date of this revolutionary device is still unknown to the public and will probably stay that way for a while. Until then, those who can’t afford the high priced VR systems like the PlayStation VR, Oculus rift, and the htc vive can get it on their phone. For augmented realty, the Hololens hasn’t released the consumer edition yet. The evelopement edition is $3,000 and the commercial one is $5,000. But, like VR, Augmented Rality games are available for ipone and android. One example would be stack virtual reality, which is a game where the user has to tap the screen in order to stack moving blocks, if they tap their screen at the right time the block will remain the same size. If they don’t the piece of the block that is hanging off the stack of blocks will fall off.. The graphics might not be as good as a console or virtual realty, but there are many different apps and games available for vr on phones. The prices for vr on phones can range from 3 to a hundred dollars. The second
